Hey everyone - all the comments so far are correct.
Transition is our original brand; Traitor and ANVL are both independent companies run out of our same office. How much to integrate the brands has been a long standing subject of debate. In the original days when Traitor was launched, we were afraid that it could alienate some of the Transition customers. Probably wouldn't have been an issue, but hindsight is 20/20. Now all three brands are run separately, but everything is under the same roof.
For the Rapture, this is the same frame as the Traitor Crusade. We felt that this frame was something that Transition customers would be interested in as well and it should be available via Transition dealers and distributors as well as the Traitor sales channels.
We do not have a complete bike or build kit option for the Crusade this season.
I gotta say much more excited about a cx/commuter bike than a fat bike. I rented a fat bike for the snow and I wasn't impressed. They would be great on groomed trails tho.
Yeah I just built a ruben and that's where I first saw it (Crusade over there). Unless there's one at a shop somewhere I was told all the 52's at both traitor/transition are out of stock.
Haha, I'm cutting fork tube this week. Still getting everything dialed in and need to wrap bars. When I say just built it.. I literally took the first ride a few days ago.
I recently converted my 29er from SS to 1x9, so looking to build another SS for errands and misc riding. So not sure what I'm going to do, might just go full road/track instead of disc and wide tires.
The ruben? sort of a do everything except get groceries kind of build. Just racy enough to go fast, but comfortable enough to do a century.
Hoping to find a crusade or rapture to get those groceries
This would get built as a SS since I just took my 29er to 1x9 since moving to California. Living near Fort Ord and there's lots of sand.. needed those granny gears. Plus riding 2.3" knobbies on street is awful, feels like I'm doing 5mph everywhere I go.
If anyone wants to part with a 52 I'll happily take it
I first read about the Rapture/Crusade back in 2012. I was going to pull the trigger last year, but then found out they were totally redoing it and making a disc version. Had to wait about another year and then finally got it!
I cant wait to save the money to build one up! I have been commuting on my bandit. Time for a road bike to add to the stable! @dang what crank rim amd headset are you running? Looks killer!
Jeffinater224- Shimano XT crankset with a Raceface NW 40t ring. The headset is a Chris King Inset 7. Those wheels in the picture are the Stan's Iron Cross Team, but I just recently switched to the Stan's Alpha 400's instead since they can withstand even more abuse!
Posted this in the CX forum but I feel a little more at home here. Went with the Traitor version of this bike mostly for the color. Lovin the way it looks and rides!
What's the real world tire clearance? Can I fit a pair of the Surly Knard's on here?
Any comments on ride quality? Had a trans Am a while ago and it rode so smooth. I know this is a different tube set, but hoping its got a bit of that smooth feel while being stiff in pedal feel - just like my old trans am
I can juuuust fit 40c WTB Nano's on i19 rims with the dropouts half way out. We're talking maybe 3mm or so on each side. They are right at a true 40c on that rim. I don't think I'd gamble on a Knard, at least on the rear. My Ritchey Shield 35's (more like a 36c) are a great fit and I can run the chainstays at max shortness.
As for the ride, it's quite nice IMO. All I've had for comparison is a Ridley X-Ride and my SS On-One Pompino. It feels stiffer than the ridley under power and definitely rides better than the Pompino.
It's a really nice frame for the money and I think Traitor is doing free shipping now on their version.
