euroford, any chance of your latest thoughts of your PUSH'd dhx 5? I am thinking of getting it done to the dhx on my br, but im not sure whether its worth the money.. what sort of riding did you get it tuned for and how is it holding up?

My bar is a prototype, made for me to burlier specs by some contacts in the Ti business.
If you're using a NOS ti bar, it was most likely designed for XC (lightweight>strength) and might snap on you. Be carefull...

    Yup, ti bolts throughout.

i have to agree with your disagreement. if it suites your riding style, i'm sure its a fantastic combo. the couple of DC's in this gallery are hot looking bikes. as of course, is yours!

nice build man. looks pretty lite as well.

I like! I'd rock that in a heartbeat if it made sense for my riding style. Bit overbuilt for me though.

nah, it was cool but just not practical for the type of riding that I'm going to be doing. besides I just picked up another singlespeed. An oldschool dk general lee 20" BMX, too much fun.

BMXs have a special place in my heart. Before biking became a sport/hobby, it was a way for a 8y/o hooligan to get to the mall.

They are actually set at 200mm there!
People said the headangle would be ruined, but riding it feels like riding any other 8 inch suspension DH bike but with the ease of flicking the bike around that one a bottlerocket could have.

They have this coating on them called SWS (side wall shield). Its suppose to make the tires stronger. Anyways in the picture the coating reflects the light from the camera's flash and makes the tires look white. In normal conditions the tires are black like any other tires.

From the looks of your down tube you'd might as well remove your fender . Do you feel that it helps in mud like that though?

A fender helps to keep the mud out of your eyes, more than anything.

My air fork has been acting hinky for a while, and finally broke something internally the other day.
    Yet again...

Put my Avy on the front for shuttling tomorrow, will see how they feel together.
I'll pop a pic or two up when I get back.

The fender works great for keeping the slop from spraying up into your face. I actually hate the look of it both on the bike and when I ride but riding at Blackrock in the wet season it does it's job. You can really see how well it works by the dirt line on the down tube. It comes off in the Summer.

    Wow, felt awesome!
DHF8Ti is plushy goodness, and suspension felt dialed with the Woodie in the rear.
A tiny bit heavier than the SLATA, but this thing will never break. Will run her till I get parts to fix my Marz, then put her back on my big bike. Or, If my 888 is still bonkers, I'll run this thing for racing...

Zahgurim, that actually looks pretty damn good. What's the A/C height of the Avalanche fork? I've been considering picking up a used 170mm/180mm DC for fun and I think you've just helped me make up my mind.

She's sitting at 570mm a/c running 2.5"s. Can adjust up and down a bit for running different size tires...
Geometry felt awesome to me, but I use her as a DH racer/beershuttle*****.

I say go with the DHF7 single damper for the Bottlerocket. The 8 is a bit much (but felt pretty damn good! ). I race my 888 a bit lowered, too, at 180mm. DHF7 Retail is $995 now. Awesome price for what she is... will be my next fork whenever I need a new one, and toss the 8 back on my bigbikey.

You will never have a mechanical problem with the Avy.
My 888 feels good when working, but it's reliability (or lack of) has been pissing me off since I bought it...
At least I'm getting decent treatment from the Marz techs now, but it would be nice if it wasn't needed in the first place.
See what happens over the next few weeks, anyway...

dude, your bike has been through so many evolutions, you should just start a thread and post one shot of each. she started lookin like a dj bike in singlespeed, for a little while was a typical br, now she's a wanna be blindside!

(lol, now i want a dc for the couple of dh races i ride... )

Just finished my bottle rocket today, and went for a ride!!! Took me too long to build it. almost 4 months. The climb killed my legs but the descent was beautiful. The thing wants to fly!

08 small BR with romic shock, totem coil
Saint disks, hub, rear mech, cranks.
700 gram rims laced to the hubs with Alpine 1 spokes (13 gauge)
sram 971 chain, 980 cassette, Sram rocket shifter.
Ti bar with Thomson 50mm bmx stem.
Tioga gel seat, so big so comfy.

I love the shock except that its only has 2" stroke. I need to get a 2.25" somewhere.

Cool. I'd heard an e-rumor somewhere that the next batch of BRs was going to include orange. I thought that might be it.

interesting you guys noticed that....that'd probably explain why it seems to bog down when I ride and feels like I bottom out way too easy

stuck downness can be fixed without having to get a whole new shock correct?

IS it me or does that bike look out of proportion? It's and Awesome car and bike. But my eyes tell me that that bike is not on that car. Bike's wheels are the ssame size as the car's.

I have an '05 DHX 5 that did the same thing. It was a seal issue. I brought it into the shop and the mechanic said, "oh, another one!" Apparently a bunch went out of the factory with the seals in upside down, or something like that. They fixed mine for free since it was a warranty thing.

You can find more about Reverse hubs here .. http://www.solidbikes.de/eng/parts_naben.html

Fork thing ... an italian manufacturer builds an air kit for a cheap 90€ for 66 and 888 .. i tried on other bikes it and it works avesome, and can always come back to coil .. 720 grams saving .. i'm going to give it a try ..

    New BR fan

Attached a few pics of my Bottle Rocket. Spent about 2 months debating over getting a Yeti ASX, then at the last minute went for a BR after reading this thread.

Took it to the French Alps - Morzine last weekend for the first ride and it was a religious experience, I'm now a total convert to the BR. Unbelievably good bike and perfect for riding in the Alps!

Thanks for the thread if it wasn't for your input I'd be on an ASX now!

Usual bits on it and finished it in some Deity bits for added bling.
