Still stock for the most part - wheels have been changed up for Stan's ZTR Flows (-1.8 lbs!!) and the saddle swapped for a WTB. Pennies will now be set aside for a 36 Van 160.

Nice what hubs? Haha shedding some weight already. That stock build is so heavy but a pretty good deal.

Yeah even though I knew I'd change out a bunch of it eventually it was still probably cheaper than piecing it together. Haven carbon bar and Havoc stem on the list as well, and some lighter cranks. Then it'll be pretty much done till I break or wear out stuff.

So i've been lurking around this forum for a long while, but never posted much.

I was googling for ideas to lighten up my 3 year old Bottlerocket when I came across this thread again, so I thought I might as well keep this thread going and (finally!) post up some pics as well

So here is my tribute to my favourite bike for the last three years

After so long I still cant decide if I want to put the frame decals on, I quite like the clean look at the end of the day I guess, though I did feel inspired when I saw Zippo's black/red Transition decals, so I tested it out and i think i might actually put them on later hehe.

    Should look something like this

    Frame: Bottlerocket V1 2008
    Fork: Marzocchi 66 RC3 180mm
    Drivetrain: Shimano XT
    Cranks: Shimano Hone
    Wheelset: Transition Revolution 32
Tires: Panaracer CG all mountain 2.35
Brakes: Magura Lousie BAT Carbon 203/180 Venti discs
    Seatpost: some cheap FSA thing
    Saddle: Deity FR (awesome)
    Handlebar: Deity 2014 bar
    Stem: Deity 50mm
    Grips: Cannondale V grips

~40lbs (hence looking to trim some weight)

uphills are a struggle especially with such a heavy fork, but the downhills really make it worth it

    My 2011 Bottlerocket build...

After building my Vagrant in 06; Transition introduced the Bottlerocket. Ive wanted one ever since.

While looking for used BRs I realized Id end up swapping a lot of parts so I decided to build one. I could have waited and gone with a 2012 but the price was too good to pass up for the 2011. ;-)

I thought Id throw a couple iPhone pictures up here for a quick look.

Quick shot of my build. Transferred parts from previous heckler! Everything fits.
New: Frame, Headset, MRP chain guide and 135mm drop out. (original 142mm kept for future usage)

Planned changes: Lighter fork and nicer seat. WTB does not go well here...

Something different, i love the size guide.

There does not seem to be a guide on recommended fork length on transition web. I've gone thru the thread and seen boxxer fork! haha... what would u guys recommend?

Good job! v.1 BR with v.5-like cable routing

Since Aug '07, I've been happily riding my v.1 BR (small), and it's still going strong (while I broke twice in that time: right leg in fall '09, and right shoulder this month).

Although I love the clean look of the cable routing with v.1 BR (thru v.4), I got tired of cable housing being shredded, sliding in-&-out of cable stops with suspension cycling. So, (with a bit of down time now), I finally decided to re-route them sorta like v.5 BR, especially now that I'd come across these neat alloy stick-on's...
    Stick-On Guides | Jagwire USA

... as oppose to these traditional black plastic stick-on's that were making me not want to re-route...

As for these nice alloy ones, they come in black (found on a few online shops), and silver (for my raw frame), which was harder to find. I finally found them on eBay, being shipped from Taiwan (still got here within a week, no prob). Other than the cool alloy looks, what's also great about these is that they are pretty thin, so you can very easily bend them to conform to the surface, whether a big-fat round downtube or square chainstays. (As for rear-drlr cable housing on drive side, it's just put through a Lizard Skins neoprene chainstay protector, sorta mimicking v.5 chainstay-internal routing.)

I think it all came out pretty good in the end. (What do you guys think?)
