Is there a way to make the Covert 2013 climb better (less pedal bob)?

    Hi
Ever since I got to ride a hardtail I noticed how much the bike bobs when climbing. I tried running higher pressure in the RP but it doesn't seem to help all that much. Honestly all the 3 shock modes feel quite similar, I'm running it on ascend most of the time.
Is there a way to make it bob less, especially when climbing while standing?
Any feedback on how climbing feels with CCDB?

PS: Don't know if it matters, but I'm a pretty light guy, weighting around 82kg with full gear.

    Thanks!

I'm not too familiar with the RP23 shock, but I assume it doesn't have a lockout feature, which sounds like what you need. You could try to score a FOX CTD for a bit cheaper than the CCDB. Maybe consider having your current shock tuned by Push for your weight, this being your cheapest option. Maybe someone can chime in with experience on the RP23 and see what they have to add.

RP23 has CTD, it doesn't really lockout on the Climb setting

a service or retune may get the shock performing how you want it. A send to PUSH will help it. I know that i can definitely feel differences in my monarch plus between its different modes. Lots of people love the CCDB for that bike and with the new climb switch it seems to climb even better. just remember that the climb switch isnt a traditional "lock out" but a tune for climbing and keeping traction.

If the rear suspension geometry has chain growth when it's compressed, pedal bob will be reduced by using a smaller chainring. Chances are it's available you by a flick of your left thumb or index finger.

Another way to reduce pedal bob is improve spinning technique of the cranks. It's easy to mash with a forgiving rigid or hardtail bike, full suspension bikes are more delicate to how you spin.

    Cost: 0
Effect: for the smaller chainring it's immediate. (Remember to use a smaller cog as well to retain the same gearing.)
Different spinning technique might take practice, but you can try various things and you'll notice when you're doing better.

    Hi,

Had a similar problem with mine. Sent the shock to have it pushed. Very good investment strongly recommended.

25-30 % i did not measure. Took it like it came from push.

The pro pedal now really makes a difference. Open it soaka up pretty god and closed its rather stiff only some movement if i pedal standing up.
