Re: Covert 26 2013 Brake Adapter Question

    Hi,

Anyone know if the rear Avid Rear Disc Brake Adapter is the "IS" version? Or is it another version? Just trying to source a 160mm version to accommodate a trail only wheelset.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes it is . But it would have nothing to do with the wheelset, just the rotor size, and they are all International Standard for the rear.

    Thanks, Allen.

Sorry, my first post was confusing. I have a second wheelset with a 160mm rotor on the rear (using a 180mm rotor on the front); using up left over parts.

Visually, with the 2nd rear mounted, the 160mm rear rotor they do not seem to come into contact with the rear brake pads fully with the OEM avid brake disc adapter, which is why I am asking.

To confirm, I would need a 160mm IS Rear brake adapter for the 160mm rear rotor? Please correct if I am wrong.

    Thanks again.

you left the CPS hardware in place on the old caliper? So you just took off the first rear wheel and put on a second with the same rear rotor size? What type rotor is on the second wheel? Sometimes you get discrepancies with the mounting hardware and different rotors. You can remove some of the CPS stuff to lower it for better contact.

1st rear have the OEM avid 180mm & 2nd rear had an off brand 160mm rotor. Tried playing around w/ removal of the CPS hardware but could only get the rotors to contact the pad at a little over 50%.

Gave up. Took the 160mm rotor off and gave to a buddy last night. Ended getting an avid 180mm rotor for the 2nd rear at lunch today.

    Thank you for the suggestions.

my god that was confusing, you never said you had a 180mm rotor on the rear to begin with....lol. It reads like your 160mm rotor wont fit the 160mm adapter you currently have...maybe I need to quit coffee...glad you got it fixed!
