Here is a great review of the 1st gen trans am w/ 36 by Brad Walton. While he does have some former connections to Transition, his reviews have been consistently unbiased and accurate IMO. Seems like he liked it pretty well for all around riding and some pretty fair sized jumps/drops. For real dirt jumping, not sure you'd want to be that slack in the head angle, but everyone is different.
All mountain can 160 fork works ok?
Can transam handle 160 fork?:D
A good number of people run 160mm forks on the TransAM. Ideally a Talas or other travel adjust so you can climb in shorter travel.
It is not a perfect bike for dirt jumping, but if you want a trail bike that can hit the jumps occasionally it is a good choice.
I have a 160 talas on my transam. Definitely handles it.
Not a dirt jumper but it can take a beating.
Thanks for the idea.:D
Got a TALAS 36 on my new build (2012 Trans Am).
Rides amazingly. I kinda feel that the 120mm setting makes the front end feel kinda low though.
