DB Inline coil on a Scout, anyone?

Has anyone tried this? Or considered it and then desided against it for whatever reason. I would like to try it for mainly Enduro style downhill.

FYI - that thread is discussing the DBinline (Air), not the coil spring version.

I think Lars from Transition is using a coil in this video:

You can see the coil at ~2:35

    Hi Ken,

Can't find it at the moment but there was a thread on another forum about a coil been used on a scout and there was an email from Transition stating that a coil works really well on a scout and suits the leverage ratio.

In that video above Lars is on a Smuggler with a Fox coil and a 160mm Fox 36 up front!!

Asked about the DB Coil IL from Transition and got a brief reply on the subject:

"We have had some time on the Cane Creek Coil IL and we were all pretty pumped on it."

Also asked about the DVO Topaz, which they hadn't tried. I think I might be upgrading to a Coil IL come summer. Thanks Poah for that blog post, seems really promising.

Not a Scout but a Smuggler...Just slapped it on last night so will find out today when I go for a ride. It does seem noticeably more plush just from riding around the block so I can't wait to get a real ride in!

I love it! I’ll usually run the air shock on local trail rides because it’s not rough or long enough trail to justify the coil. I also don’t want too much wear and tear on the coil since I use it for big rides and park runs like at Snow Summit Bike Park. I’m usually at the bike park 2-3 times a month each season.

I'm thinking about doing this on my Smuggler as well w/ a DBCoil IL.

Any downsides that you can find? Is the weight penalty worth the performance improvement?

Great shock and if the LR/curve was right I'd say yes.

Nope it's only half a pound increase over the Monarch. You'll never have to worry about air pressure changes and the shock feels consistent the whole day at the bike park. I'm 165lbs geared up and I'm running a 400lb spring to get 30% sag.

    Awesome, thanks for the info!

Any idea what tune you went with for the LSC/LSR/HSC/HSR?
