    covert 2013 vs bandit 2012? (29ers)

    Covert 29 vs Bandit 29?
Anybody ridden a pre2013 Bandit 29 and the new Covert 29?
I was falling in love with the Bandit 29 last year and planning to buy one but bailed when I found out Transition changed it. looks like the Covert 29 replaces for more long travel 29 sexiness. anybody ridden both and what are your impressions?

I own a Covert but have not ridden the Bandit, from everything I've read it's a bit more travel, bit more stiffness and a bit more weight. Guess it depends on what your looking for but the Covert is very nice.

Have your read the monster Covert 29 thread below?

I bet if you called Transition they'd give you a solid answer in a jiffy. I think the 2012 Bandit 29 (which I own) "became" the 2013 Covert 29. If you look at their numbers, the geometry is very similar. The Covert head angle is .5 slacker, but most of the measurements are almost the same straight across. Having owned a 26 Covert, I would expect the 29 version to have a stiffer rear end than the Bandit had (it flexed a bit) and to cater to the descents just a teeny bit more, but I bet in the end it's pretty dang similar to last years bandit. But of course, I don't know for sure.

Covert 29 has geometry changes that are very similar to the 2012 Bandit 29. The Covert is a bit more beefy and more travel so it only made sense to incorporate that geometry into the covert. The Bandit for 2103 got a bit tighter and lost a bit of travel , but its lightweight made it a perfect candidate for the geo changes, its just a great trail bike.
