Coil on Bandit?
Just curious if anyone has tried running a coil rear shock on the Bandit yet.
I've been running one (DHX 5) for several months on my Bandit 26. There are things I love about it and things I don't. Traction is certainly improved on the way up and down, but I sacrifice some pedaling performance for sure and the weight penalty isn't great. It certainly shines on the way down though.
I just build a Bandit 29 yesterday with the 2013 CTD air shock and it's my first experience with an air shock with the Bandit platform in a while. It felt awesome and I have no real urge to put my coil back on there. While the coil is great for some stuff, it sort of defeats the purpose of a bike like this for most occasions.
Bottom line, if you have the luxury of owning two shocks, I think a coil could be a great addition. But if you can only have one, it's not the way I would go.
