That looks awesome. Although if you squint real hard, reminds me of Jerome Clementz' 2013 Cannondale Jekyll color scheme.

Nice! how do you like the wheels? not the size but just the wheels in general. Also how do you like the shock? I have a 13' covert and Im considering that new fox shock or the dbair climb schock for it.

    that's really colorful
    and a killer bike.
but for me, i was always a friend of the early simple color schemes. one color and only a few decals.

could you please give us a weight, when it is ready?

    wow!
    really nice colours-mix!
There are big difference between 2014 model and 2011-V2 version during the riding?
with black fork, the bike will be amazing!

Yes. Covert to TransAm to Bandit to Explosif (while I awaited the release of TR 27.5 frames) and, now, back to Covert.

My new covert looks a lot like the first, except with 26" wheels. I didn't have yellow wheels so I settled on a couple yellow zip-ties. Thank you to Drop n Zone for being an awesome dealer. They have top notch customer service.

you might be able to just buy 27.5 wheels and do a 27.5 ready fork. The chainstay length is the same on the 26 and 27.5. i would double check with them of course but it would seem the frame itself is not that different.

How do you guys like the 27.5? I'm about to order one, but really would like some opinions on it. Seems like it should be very well rounded, but would like some reassurance haha.

Just got back from 5 hours of biking Hood River, OR on the new 27.5 and it did wonderful. Mine is an XL as I'm 6'4 and I must say the fit is perfect for me...I mean spot on. Bike climbed well up the fire road to start the ride, thereafter the hans dampfs were caked with mud the entire time so I don't want to give a review under those circumstances. The Covert shined on jump lines as well as some 3-6 foot drops that I convinced myself to hit. Felt bottomless with the Float X and Pike. The drops felt so plush compared to when I hit them with the Tallboy LT previously. After the hit the bike composes it self nicely ready for more than what I'm capable of giving her. Coming from a 29er this thing was agile and easier to get off the ground.

I will say that the float X's CTD settings don't seem to be as defined as my previous CTD Float on my Tallboy LT. The Climb setting was nowhere close to being locked out as it bobbed as much as the Trail setting.

Another note I'd like to add is the frame paint...it's complete ****!!!! No crashes today, yet my top tube seems to have paint rubbed off of it...WTF is that?

There it is; my crap review of a great bike! Can't wait to go ride it again.

I rode my 26" covert at Sandy Ridge, OR on Christmas eve. I agree with most of SmittyPDX's review. My build is mostly XT components, Float 36, and revolution 28 wheels. It could lose some weight with different components but I have it built for heavy AM and light freeride. The bike is very playful, it rails berms, jumps awesome, recovers well and begs you to go faster and do more.

Up hill it pedals about as perfectly as a 6" travel bike can, and the Float X on my bike is completely locked out in the climb mode unless I stand and mash on the pedals. The only bounce I can feel spinning is from the tire, there is no suspension movement at all.

On the Paint it is too early for me to tell, but I can say that Transition is not known for having durable paint jobs. I have defiantly seen wear on my 2011 Blindside. 3m tape in wear areas might be a good idea.

    Update:
It now has a 2014 Float 36 and E13 chain guide. Next upgrades will be a lighter wheel set, and then probably a dropper seat post. So far I have done everything from XC to Light Freeride on this bike. It does it all and asks for more.

Looks solid Khartik! Love the green, black, and Kash combo.

What cranks are you using? My RF Ride cranks have **** the bed on me. I'm about to send them back on warranty, but I'm thinking maybe I just upgrade to something more heavy duty. You've seen me, I'm 220lbs and the Rides are an XC crank. Do you have SLX...is that what I'm seeing?

Yeah, they are slx cranks. As you know I ride at Blackrock a lot, so I like the extra beef of the slx over some of the lighter cranks for doing the freeride stuff.

It will handle all of Bonzai, Sictker, Brake Check/Sunday stroll if someone is not a complete hack. If they are, just skip the bigger features on those trails. Any of the really big features on the mountain you would have to be really smooth. As a bonus it also pedals to the top easily.

Thanks for the feedback; good to get confirmation having never been to Blackrock and in the market for a new freeride bike that can still pedal! Would love to have both a Covert and a TR 500, but a Covert will be a better solution to my current shredding!

Well fellas, we have the last production year Covert....Lets see some more pics so we can send this bike off properly.

Took it out tonight after work and I'm continually blown away by this bike. Super plush on rough descents and pops off of everything. Built a new rear wheel around the hope 2 evo hub the other day and I'm in love. Rolls faster and clicks like a mad man.

What do you guys think about the end of production of our dear friend?

I think it is kind of a shame really. I still think the covert will go down as a classic. to me it has sleek timeless looks and a ride quality that will be its own.

    +1

Covert has had many years with so many satisfied customers. This single pivot is (I guess "was" now) IMO the best on the market. I just hope that the new Patrol and the rest of the lineup can deliver the poppy ride that we all love so much.

I'll be out this weekend both days riding and will do my best to snap some jpegs to keep this thread alive.

Just got back from a Giant demo day at Sandy Ridge (sandy, OR) and rode the new 27.5 Reign just to compare suspension and ride qualities between the Covert. What I learned was that the Reign rode like sheeeeeit. Could be that the maestro doesn't handle heavier riders (220 lbs) or that I needed to mess with the psi in the shock more. I did add and remove air twice to try to get it dialed, but the result was the same....rough!!! Nowhere...I mean nowhere near as playful as my Covert. The whole time I wished I that I had brought my bike with me.

Last weekend some buds and I went to the local ski lift and rode Ski Bowl at Mt Hood, friends were on the DH bikes me on the Covert. So impressed with how it handled!! Rode the DH trails and the freeride park hitting every feature (mind you, there's nothing huge, just some jumps and a 10 foot drop). Everything was so smooth...Never once did I wish I had a bigger bike. Love my 27.5 Covert!!!!!!!!!

I built a Covert 26 up at the start of the with a set of Pikes, a Cane Creek DB Air CS and a pair of Mavic Crossmax Enduros. It is quite simply the best bike I have ever ridden. Way better than the Mojo SL that it replaced.

I have a 29er (Niner EMD 9 hardtail) and the Covert. Been deciding on what I should build up this winter. I guess 650b is the way to go but Im so happy with the Covert I am going to leave it as it is. Not break it up and ride it till it dies.

Ive ordered a Transition Smuggler to replace the Niner. 29er with 115m travel.

    Taken the plunge.

^ agreed. I love the sleek compact frame design. Also give the front wheel lots of room. If this ever breaks and I can't find a replacement I may have to go yeti and get the sb6c. Has the same sleek compact look.

I broke my Bandit. Transition hooked me up with a Covert frame and just had me buy the shock. Great company, ridiculously fun bike. Here she is out in the wild:

My fork is also currently mid warranty replacement, so I'm on a loaner from my shop. Hopefully this week I'll get my X-Fusion Slant back on there and cut the brake lines down. I'll get some more photos up when she's in her final state. Actually, I guess there's no such thing as a final state with a bike...
