I raced my Klunker this weekend in a time trial, it was brutal. It was the hit of the race though

found a shimano nexus cog that well work and its 22 teeth, can be had for under $10 and you well need a new chain most likely as well

Hey, how is your rear hub feeling? Mine seems to have developed a slight clunk. I realize these are pretty budget hubs

+1 - After being told there was no hope whatsoever finding a white one this late in the game, I tracked one down half-way across the country. I'm expecting it mid-week, and couldn't be more excited! The green and orange just don't do it for me.

Such a rad bike... brings back some awesome memories! Hoping that I can (1) find one somewhere in the US of A and (2) get forgiveness from my wife for buying without her consent.

I assume these are 26ers not 29ers..right... funny thing is they don't show it in the specs on the Transition site.

Ya it's a 26, mine has held up good so far I changed the gearing from the stock 42-16 to 42-19 so I can not kill myself going up the occasional hill. I also set the wheels up tubeless and run around 18psi so I have all kinds of traction now I broke the chain last time I tried racing it and had to run a mile pushing that sled
All in all it's a fun bike!

Welp, my LBS ordered 3 for stock- two in blue, one in raw. I managed to not buy one from the first two releases Transition did, but now I think I'm done for- just need to decide on the color. Sorta torn, at first I thought the raw color, now I'm thinking maybe blue.

Above all, I am super thankful that my LBS is awesome enough to order these for their sales floor

I rode one today- was a hoot! Except when I was getting off the bike I was still moving and accidentally braked and almost flipped off the front. I demo'd a blue one, but ultimately the raw is more my style. Pick it up tomorrow when it arrives!

Haha is that you that bought one of the blue ones? They got both of them in today, they unboxed one, just tell them you want the one they didn't build yet. I was gentle though. I did skid it for a few feet on the sidewalk, but if you use it properly I suspect that won't affect the tires much in the long run

This might be an insanely dumb question, but how much of a difference did the 19T cog make? I want to go to an easier cog but not too easier- I have no point of reference as my only other 26" bike is a cargo bike. I see another dude used a 22T cog. Unsure of how much bigger to go.

Transition was at the Capitol Forest Classic. Not surprisingly, Lars won the All Mountain category. They brought a trailer full of Klunkers and we did shuttle runs the night after the XC race. Holy Crap! What a fun time! Mine is on the way right now!

Did 2 hard rides on the Klunker this week. One involved a lot of climbing (with pushing mixed in). Discovered a few things.

1: Need to lower the gearing. I have a set of XTR cranks lying around so my plan is to use the Truvativ BMX to euro BB adapter. Will keep the 16 in the rear and go to a 38T up front. (This may lower the weight to under 30 lbs. I know, I'm a sissy)

2: Hubs need love out of the box. Repacked front and rear hubs. The nasty black grease in the rear began shooting out halfway through the ride. Replaced with Park grease. Front hub non drive side cone had a gouge in it. Buffed out with Dremel. Now smooth.

3: Glad it has a bottle cage.

    4: The geometry is perfect

The Klunker is a really fun bike. It's teaching me a lot about my riding and how to enter corners faster.

Found this article and called the company. The hub is still in development.

    Then found Velosteel.

Can these be ordered on the internet anywhere? Transition doesn't have a dealer in my state, and it doesn't seem that the Transition website sells them directly.
