The Trail Dynamics Sweco 480 recently experienced a rapid loss of engine oil (which fortunately was caught by the operator before loss of oil pressure!) that we traced to a failed fitting between the oil pressure sensor and the engine block. While we suspect that the fitting was stressed at some point in its (short) life, it's also possible that engine vibration stressed the fitting. Has any other Sweco 480 owner/operator seen a failure of the 90 degree fitting (1/4" NPT to 1/8" NPTM) between the oil pressure sensor and the engine block? Ours broke at the nipple under the swivel and was clearly a stress fracture... Thanks in advance for your comments!
Old assembly--swivel and flare broke off. allowing engine oil to be pumped out of the pressure sensor line at the engine block...
