    interesting project

i've been asked to participate in an interesting project that has to solve several issues regarding a trail alignment. the problem is that the alignment has to run between a small river and a road, but the river has started to erode the road. the length of the section is several hundred meters. we can not go to the other side of the river. the good news is that there is decent funding available, so there is opportunity to do something creative and fairly substantial (rebuilding the road, major rock work, steel structures, etc). there is an opportunity for this project to become a showcase for other problem trail alignment areas in the region.

i'm seeking ideas and input for this project with the theme of the project to celebrate mtbing and the natural heritage of the area.

Have you considered checking with Sustainable Trails in Ontario to evaluate the scope of your project? Rich and Bill are pretty good with that kind of stuff.

If you have pictures and/or details, I'd be glad to help you but can't commit more time than that this year.

i know rich and bill and have worked with them in the past. the scope of this project is fairly large as it will require major road construction. i would like to see something unusual/outside of the box built. as the project rolls forward i will update with approved for release information and public meetings

another good note is that final trail alignment for the nashville tract is almost done. this project is fairly major since there are river crossing involved. once this project is finished i will be seeking input for the next tract trail project which will be albion hills.

yes it will, keep in mind the scope will be for the entire property and all the activities/stakeholders/communities... that being said it's pretty exciting that this process is going forward. i will also be seeking input for this plan from the entire spectrum of mtb riders.

some of the points i will be advocating for:
-continuation of the multi-use inter-regional trail to the top of the watershed
    -construction of a progressive/sustainable flow trail(s)
    -increased restorative/natural habitat
    -living city mandates
    -equable community involvement
    -urban farming
    -education
