Ideas on starting a new Club/Team?

The localshop I work for Jakes Bike Shop in Yakima Washignton is trying to get our own Club started.
We have been Doing weekly MTB rides at trails within a Half Hour of the shop, but are having a hard time attracting members. We want to build the club to a point that we could also have a team travel to races on the weekend.

Any ideas on how to get the word out or advertise to attract local riders?

    Thanks, Jakes!

I think you should consider what it is thou want to accomplish. Mtn bike clubs tend to be more area specific than shop specific, and generally have an element of advocacy involved, if that's not the primary purpose. Shop "clubs" ornteams seem to be ,ore racing and riding focused. If its a race team you're after, talk to the shop, get a list f riders, some local businesses to help sponsor it and order some team jerseys and have fun (and go to the racing forums where you'll ,find more race specific info. If advocacy is what you're thinking of, pretty sure there's a relatively new group in yakima that's been building trail.
