    Corral Points

Providing visual stimuli to guide riders along a trail, whether to assist drainage, improve safety or increase fun can sometimes mean using corral points. Mostly they are logs or rocks, but sometimes they are different.

In the next pics we had been having trouble with trail poachers during construction. The trail is within a week of being ready to open, but there are a few key spots hardening after we embedded stone into a clay layer affected by subsoil water below and through it where tree roots run. Lucky the demons of past shovels arose to help guard and corral the trail.

NICE! I've got one (can't find a pic, will have to go find one) on a trail I helped the Trail Design & Construction course build. It's a rotten pine stump we dug up that looks like the head of some crazy horned beast. It was placed to keep riders from dumbing down a spot where the trail makes a quick left-right jog in a high-speed section.
