I have a variety of Var tools in my box. I have forged ones that are either raw steel, nickel plated, or painted a grayish green.
I know the painted third hand tool was from the mid 80's, because I bought it new. I don't know if it is forged or cast, but at the time just about all of their tools were that color.
I recently acquired an Atomic stand with the solid steel uprights. All of the cast iron bits are painted gold. I haven't seen another with the gold paint, and wonder what era it is from. It looks like original paint. I thought that someone on the forum might have an idea when Var was painting stuff gold. It looks like they are into black paint at the moment.
