    urgent headset help wanted

    hey all,

I'm in the process of building up a bike right now. I've just pressed the headset cups into the frame and am putting the rest together to get a proper fit before I cut the forks to lenght.
So I've always used ball bearings in headsets but now I'm using a FSA Orbit MX Headset which has a bearing cartridge. My question is: do I still need to use tons of grease between all the headset parts? Or will this screw up the cartridge bearing?

    Thanks in advance.

you don't need tons of grease but lightly coating the cartridges before inserting in the cups is a good idea.

    from the FSA FAQ:

Is it necessary to grease my sealed cartridge bearings?
The bearings themselves don’t require grease for smooth operation. FSA recommends using a light grease when assembling sealed cartridge bearings, not as a lubricant, but as a waterproofng agent as an extra layer of protection.

    Thank you very much.
Just what I expected. Why didn't I think of looking on their website?
I'll wait to cut the steerer until tomorrow. It's getting late here in Europe and I rather not mess it up.
