    Unknown Park Tool peg spanners

Does anybody know the intended use for the blue Park Tool SPA-3 spanner? What about the black one? When was the blue one discontinued or replaced by other tool in the catalog?

My researches have found out that the black one has 2.0mm-1,6mm ends and the blue helps in old headseat bicycles (french bikes).

I've written down a new blog entry about these spanners. Any info would be highly appreciated

The blue one is a Park SPA-3. It was used for adjusting lock rings on 3 piece bottom brackets. I'm sure it could be used on other lock rings; i.e headset, but Park listed it as being for bottom brackets. Back in the mists of time, bicycle tools were not as singularly specific as they are now. You used what ever tool fit the immediate need. The black one is not listed in my 1986 catalog.

The red one could also be used to adjust bearing preload on Easton Haven hubs. Park now makes an adjustable version as well.

The black one may have been used for dust caps as seen here:

    Thanks for the call.

I've just joined both groups. The yellow one nowadays only helps me for wrapping a bar.

The blue and black are probably for loose bearing bottom brackets or very obscure hubs.
The only one I have is the Red one because with flats filed on the pins you can use it to remove the bearing lock ring on Bontrager Race Disc MTB front hubs. The official tool is a small hook spanner but it is unobtanium.

Yes I spent too much on bikes.
