    tripple to dubble

I'm changing my crankset from a tripple to a dubble with a bashgaurd.
I'm using my old granny and middle crank but when I put them togetter they hit. What have I done wrong or what am I missing??

Looks like your bashguard is mounted between your "middle" ring and the spider, it should be on the outside of the spider, where the big ring would have been. That cutout in the bash guard is meant to line up with the crank arm.

For some reason (don't know if it is just the images) it looks like you have the bashguard mounted between the "bigger" ring and the spider. That would unintentionally space the too far toward the middle of the bike. Bashguard is suppose to mount in place of the outer, big-ring that you removed. The middle (now your large ring) should be bolted to the inner side of the spider. Also, it looks like the bolts are backward - the allen key heads should be facing the outside. Finally, like bvibert said above, that big cut-out (hole) is suppose to line up with your right side crank arm.

Good luck with that, hope it all works out.

Nah, not stupid. It happens and it's how we all learn. I've certainly had my own share of "DOH!" moments. The difference is you were smart enough to ask for help, I sat there and often banged my head until I figured it out.
