    Does anyone know what tool are needed to remove the cranks?

    The model of your cranks would be infinitely more helpfull than the model of your bike.

    You probably have some sort of Shimano Hollowtech II cranks. If so all you should need is a hex wrench and the tool to remove the adjustment cap. Check out the park tool link below.

    Found out today, just a Hex key an a soft blow hammer. No special tools needed.
