    Replacing BB

    Hello-

    Replacing an old BB-UN52 on a 98 Trek 7000 w/ STX-RC cranks.

    Have selected a BB-UN54 73mm/113mm to replace.

Question.. do I need a crank extractor? Or just the BB tool?

I believe the cranks are square taper.

    Any guidance is appreciated!

Quite possibly need the extractor , ccp -22 is for square taper , cwp -7 is universal .

You may have a self-extracting bolt setup, but if not, like AZmtns says...

STX-RC never came with self extracting bolts - they might have been fitted afterwards though.

    Thanks guys.

Started as a simple BB replacement and wound up being a full rebuild after stripping everything down to the frame. Full write-up w/ pics to follow...
