I can tell you what won't work if whatever you're trying to work with it even remotely tight; snap ring pliers. I tried to use some once on something that needed a small pin spanner and snapped them off. This may be one of those tools where getting the real thing is the best solution..
I dig the hanger method. Funny thing is I used a snap ring pliers and they worked like a charm. I did soak the threads in PB blaster first too. Thanks for the replys.

my threads were not that tight. I wouldn't recomend them for any sort of torque
