    New Stem Loose Fork

Replaced the stem on my bike with a shorter one and after all the bolts were tightened felt that the fork was loose. Noted a small gap of perhaps 1.5 - 2.5mm between the top cap and the spacer/shim used up top. Followed the normal assembly procedure I always follow: Center Stem, tighten top-cap screw, tighten side bolts to torque and done.

Any advice will be greatly apprecaited.

Need a thicker spacer under the stem. The top cap is hitting the fork before the preload is correct.

    Re: New Stem Loose Fork

Yep, sounds like your new stem has a shorter stack height. You need to add a spacer either under or on top of the stem.
