I got a PC-10 for around $140 shipped, that did not seem to outrageous to me, especially when you consider its potential use-life. Its well made and ought to be servicable for many years to come.
Yeah but since I'm not able to work because of my knee condition they are all to much Just trying to find something before knee surgery on march 18th. Don't want the wall mount cause I would like to be able to move it outside for cleaning my bike
Parks are sweet and I have a 2 of them, but the Ultimate Support are probably the nicest stands out there for personal use, garage, travel, etc. My personal choice being the Elite with tote bag.

Agree.. The Ultimate Elite is my choice for best stand for the money. I personally own a Park PCS-10. Stay away from the Spin Doctor stands and el-cheepo stuff you'll regret it.
Thanks for the link on the thread !! Going to the store tonight to get some longer screws. I took apart old saw horse that had good wood and boom gonna have one tomorrow thanks again:thumbsup:
I dig the idea of the PVC tee for holding the bike, and I've already got most of it finished. I'm setting up the stand with 1" galvanized steel, and I'm making it so I can either use it on the floor of the porch on my apartment or so I can toss it into the receiver on the back of my SUV. Basically the clamp will be able to hook onto the piece for the receiver or the stand at home. I could probably buy a stand for the same amount, but I like tinkering with this kind of stuff.
I'm also fairly lucky in that I have a buddy who has access to a welder and a drill press, so I can make this thing sturdy as crap. Though I do like the clamp that was just posted above, so when my PVC clamp (eventually) breaks, I'll probably toss that one on this stand.
I'm still in the planning stages of my bike stand build, but I needed to wash the bike today...so.. I could have made it a lot more stable by putting the hook under the top tube with another bar/hook on the other side, but rain was looming above.
The hook/handle is an extendable paint roller. I put a steel tube around it to prevent the plastic handle on the end from flexing. There's a bolt keeping it from sliding out or pivoting. I used the zip ties to prevent rotation; and because I don't have to remove that if I decide to do this again.
Before someone hounds me for washing a relatively clean bike, I needed to lube the chain...
check craigslist i just picked up a park pcs 9 for 65.00 bucks and this thing is an entry level stand but damn its sturdy as hell! i had an ultimate sports stand a while back and it was really nice but a bit too much plastic for my taste, this park stand is all metal and heavy duty, i like it better...
The thing is, for $85 I can have a folding tripod stand with rigged up mounting mechanism for the bicycle and 1500watt shop lights...
EDIT: That's a bit hard to read. I can get a 1500watt shop light with folding tripod for $80; it's plenty sturdy enough to be a bike stand. With $5 in fittings/pipe I'll be able to mount my bike to it. Add some ingenuity and it'll have quick-clamp and rotation features as well.
I have a proper bike stand in my workshop, and then I have a ghetto one right by where I store my bikes so that I can throw them up on it to lube the chain etc. It's basically a 2x4 sticking out from the wall. Throw the nose of the saddle over it... works great.
