    I'm Stuck...

    Eggbeaters driveside seized ..any suggestions or threads? Counter clockwise to remove with hex tool according to website. I have a bike stand.

    What kind of tool are you using?
    It's all about the proper leverage point.
    I like putting the bike in a stand.
    Turn the drive side crank arm to 3 o'clock,
    stand behind the bike, and grab the left crank arm with my left hand.
    Using a large pedal wrench at about 7-8 o'clock,
    push down on the wrench, while pulling on the left pedal with your left hand..
    Works about everytime.

    Or, I'll stand on the left side of the bike,
    put the saddle against my chest,
    and use about the same leverage point, pushing down on the wrench.
    Look, whatever happens, don't fight the mountain.

    if you are standing on the non drive side of the bike and looking at the hex you need to turn clockwise to get it off. also grab the other crank arm or tie it to the frame

    If it's really seized. You might try these, lay your bike flat on its left side (driverside) then drop some wd-40 on the pedal threads, let it soak for few minutes, repeat, then try to remove it using techniques from previous posts. Hope that helps.

    The easiest way to remember which direction to turn the wrench to remove pedals, is turn it towards the back of the bike.
    "Back Off"
    The reverse is true for bottom brackets....unless they are italian threaded.
    Are you using a small hex key?
    If so, that won't provide you with much leverage.
    Try putting a smal section of pipe of something over the wrench to give you more leverage.
    Oh yea, shift the front into the largest chainring before you start trying to do this. If you slip, you won't get a chainring tattoo on your hand since the chain will be covering the teeth.

    Are you sure it is on the correct side?
    I was given a set of Mallets that a buddy had rebuilt and he managed to get the pedal body on the wrong spindal. I spent 15 minutes trying to put the one marked R on the right side without forcing anything before I switched it over and it slid right on.

    Use antiseize on the threads to avoid problems with sticking.
    My Kona, new from the shop, had the pedals on so tight that I had to actually use a long pedal wrench and a hammer to get them off. I was worried I was going to break something. Same thing happened to a riding bud who bought a bike at the same shop.

    If you have to use an allen wrench to remove them, invest in a set of allen sockets and a breaker bar (at least 12 in). This will give you the leverage you need to get them off and will be a lot easier than using an "L" type allen alone or with a cheater pipe.
