    Homemade service stand

I made my own service stand. Spent about $20 but you need your own bench vise or some other way of holding the bar. Maybe screw it to the wall.

Piece of 3/4" pipe, pipe clamp and a small block of wood and an old tube to grip the seat post.

Outstanding! Maximum utility at minimum investment.

Now get out and ride that bike. It's a little too clean for my liking.
    Dad is sad.
    Very, very sad.
    He had a bad day.
    What a day Dad had!

How stable is it with so little of the lip on that pipe being held by the vise?
I've made some bad decisions like taking the gears off my bike. So here's the warning: Do not as I say, nor as I do.

Pretty solid. I have to really wrench on the bike to get it to wobble at all. That was one of my concerns originally. My first thought was to bolt the flange to a piece of flat steel or steel tubing to clamp in the vise but this was solid enough to do the trick.

It's also super small to store also and I don't have too find a place to store a large stand.

yeah the bike is new. Only had it a few weeks and it's winter here in Iowa so I haven't ridden it much yet. Can't wait for spring so I can get some serious seat time on it.

I used my DIY clamp in a vise for a short while and I just turned my vise sideways and clamped the pipe in the vise's tube clamps. It would be more secure if you did that.

Awesome! I have been thinking of ways to try and make my own as well. I may just give this a try!
