Doh! Need help getting BB7s back together

I was cleaning/changing pads on my BB7s. I took the inner piston out and can't figure out how to get back in. Doh! Help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I meant inside the actual brake mechanism. It popped out. It doesn't want to pop back in, so I figure I am doing something wrong. You are right on the other one, it has a star screw on the outside and is threaded.

Doh. I think I broke it damn it. I put a ratchet extension and hit with a hammer. It went in, but testing the brake it pushed it back out and this little sort of washer on the tip fell off. It will go in, but is really loose. Grr.

Push, not hammer. It just takes firm pressure.

Yeah. I pushed and pushed and wouldn't go in. So, I figured a light tap with a hammer would work, it did, but . . . Seemed to brake a little ringer/washer deal. I'll have to take into LBS and see what they say. Thanks for the help.

Here are a couple of places with pictures that might help.

Yes the "Pressure Foot' (outboard pad) has a little circlip around the tip of it, under the ball bearing. The whole thing squeezes into the drive cam. Hope this helps, good luck! I've taken mine apart and cleaned it and re-greased it and did have a little of trouble putting that pad shaft into the drive cam.
