    MotoLite "stiff enough" for 15QR??

I'm considering upgrading the fork on my '05 ML to a 15QR Fox TALAS over a conventional 9mm QR TALAS. I've heard comments that "older" frames won't be stiff enough to realize the full benefits of a 15QR fork. Any thoughts / experience with a 15QR on a ML? Will the added front end stability be noticable on the ML?

    Thanks,

    Dan

I don't think you will have a problem with that change. Just make sure that you get the 140mm 15QR Version. There is also a 150mm 15QR Version and I think that will be a travel too long for your Moto-Lite.

    Cheers!

Interesting. I've read some past quotes that mentions Fox Talus typically measure around 10mm of actual travel from what they list. Meaning 140mm have an actual travel of 130mm...unlike RS where actual travel matches listed travel. Again, I don't know this to be the case, but do remember seeing it posted.

I'm also considering a TA fork upgrade for my 07 ML, but with the need for a new hub, wheel build, and price of the fork (either RS w/ Maxle or Fox with 15QR) it's hard to justify the cost for me.

I don't think you will have a problem either. I've been rockin a 160mm Nixon on my old Moto and haven't had a problem doing aggressive trail riding. The Nixon found a new home on my Canfield One but I'll probably get a smaller Nixon for the Moto.

The ML is stiff enough for 20mm axles.

I used a Marzocchi AM SL 1 with TA on the ML, and the bike worked awesome. I don't think there will be any problem on that setting.

Personally, I think I would go Pike with a standard 20mm over a gizmo 15mm, but I think you'll be fine.

First of all where have I been? That's the STUPIDEST question I've ever read on the ML.

I've run several 20mm TA forks on my 05 ML, and they were ALL an upgrade that suited that bike beautifully! I preferred to run them around 150mm
