At last ...19mths later ML to EG

Just set up my EG earlier this evening. No time for trails till Sun but spinning around with a little bit of urban climbs/ stairs.....don't think I will ever miss my motolite. The thing is unreal! I never thought it could be so easy with 160mm up front. Actually I regret a little getting the 36 TALAS. Seem like I wouldn't be needing it.

excuse the crappy fone cam and dorky stem/spacer area...better pics later and field report after fine tunings.

Dude killer bike! The silver EG is, without a doubt, the best looking of them all!

Thanks guys. And to think I almost got the green. Long story, actually got the green one, but it wasn't my size and went back to the shop for a switch. Pic doesnt do it justice. Its actually greyish silver, not the flashy silver silver.

Fren of mine put up a few pics here from his cam. This is more true to the real color

I'm waiting for a 08 El Guapo I just bought. It doesn't look as good as the 09's though. Good deal though! Now after seeing those pictures it making me experience buyer's remorse. Serious bike porn!

Few more pics... and clean no more.

Still no chance to ride, so spent a lazy afternoon doing up some protective films and change the color tone a bit.

Visualizing what it looks like when I change the fork decal to the black-greyscale and re-anodize the knobs black.

    As it is...

Really digging the 09 EG looks. Never cared for 08 EG. I think 09 EG has the best looking line of all bikes out in the market. Unbiased opinion since all my bikes are different brand.

If I was in the market for 6" travel bike, the choice would be between EG and Firebird. Slight nudge on EG.

    Well done!

I just went for a spin and some sus setting up. Over all setup except for frame, fork and a shorter 50mm stem (vs 65mm before), basically everything was ported over from the ML. Only change tonite was to lower the headset down from above pics to just one 10mm spacer.

At 160mm front it climbs better than my ML @ 120mm travel which if I'm not wrong is normally considered the "sweet travel/height" for the front. No twitching and running higher pressure than normal. Previously used much lower pressure on the front to compensate for twitch on the ML.

If anyone is still wavering on how well it climbs or if the front is too high, my take is that the flush headset to minimize stack height and adjustable fork for climbs is really unnecessary.

Ok, I'm probably repeating alot of things that's already been said about the EG... but really, its that good.

Can't wait for the 1st real trail ride in a few hours

    Put to some real riding

    Thanks guys.

Did the day ride on Sun on a purpose built biking trail and the bike performed awesome.

Just finish a May Day Night ride couple of hours ago..
Totally different kind of place. Tight jungle trails covered in wet gnarly stuffs with lots of erosion where railing over roots or riding up the trunks to clear sections is a norm.

Again awesome performance even when walling some of those roots at full front travel, Stumblings are only due to crappy rider's skill and rear shock not dialled in properly for this trail. Short stems gives a very sharp but very predictable handling on this bike. I attribute it partly to the short headtube and of course it goes with the thru-axle.

Definitely a trail bike. Ok make it a damn trail worthy bike. Will put my mind to rest with the last thing needed testing-- Airtime. Next week when the new pedals are here.

Wasea- dun worry, the FB gave me a nightmare when I held it and look at the linkages. Really...oh and the weight.
