    Great deals on MLs

A little birdie told me about a good deal on 2006 Motolites. Anybody else know about this? If not, my lips are sealed in order to protect the innocent till such news is official. Of course, then there will be this mad scramble, right?

It is true, I promise. I never BS unless I'm totally messin' with ya. I have a friend who I recently discovered carries Titus bikes who was informed today of a real price drop on MLs so he called and told me since he knew I was looking. Well, we chat a lot anyway but I was still surprised at the drop. Let's just say existing stock can now be had for several hundred less. Bob can confirm but it is true.

Applies to the Racer-X as well but I'm not sure about the others.

Look, I don't want to take business away from dealers you already deal with. This price drop will be across the board so everyone should be able to pass that along to you, right? Let's assume the price drop is $200. So if someone quoted you $1,200 earlier, they will make the same profit by selling you that bike for $1,000 or less, depending on the price drop.

Now if someone is not willing to pass the savings along to you, then I don't mind helping out. I almost exclusively support our board vendors/dealers. I also look out for my fellow riders so a price drop should be passed along to us- that's only fair.

If who you deal with does not help you out, PM me. I'll tell you what I know and then you can decide for yourself.

Where is Biker Bob? Can anybody at Titus tell us what the 2006 pricing will be? Who has a source? I don't know anyone there.

I would have thought that with the price of aluminum skyrocketing, the price of bike frames would have followed.

Silly me, I paid MSRP last year. Oh well...

The key phrase here is "existing stock." When I started looking this spring, I couldn't get a frame in my size for the love of money. Did they fabricate too many in the last production run? I wonder if this means something will be changed for 2007...

    Rumour control

Man, you guys are fast with the rumours/news. Must be those darn Internets. I was out leading a herd of Titusi (ML, Racer X, Eleven) around our technical trails til now and find all this talk surprising.
All I'll say is, if you ride x-small or small, it's time to pick up a Motolite. Typically, the popular sizes, large and medium, are almost gone. But still a good time. Won't see much more of them for several months. Elevens also good deals. Stock up for your kids and grandkids.

Just finished talking to a Titus dealer and yep, pretty impressive price cuts for year end clear out. And Bob's right, limited sizing so get your orders in. Kinda scary as this seems to be a Titus first, so what B*tchin new product is showing up at Interbike, only time will tell, cause thats the only reason I can think of for this first time fire sale.

I've called about a Large this morning and only found Mediums and Smalls. Being 5'11" tall and my outstretched arms measuring 6'4". a Large would be the best fit. If my arms were not blessed with an ape-like length , a Medium could have worked just as well as a Large.

So I'll just have to be happy with a beautiful, black, El Salt I adopted instead. It will keep my Flux company. However, if I find a Large ML, I may just have to give it a new home as well. I still need to review it against the 575. My home is small but my heart is big when it comes to adopting bikes. I'm a Giver that way

Not sure what you mean but my size (Large) is hard to find. Mediums and Smalls are still around and a few people still have them. I have no idea about XS. I'm still bummed that Large ones seem to be all gone though I am spending way too many thousands this year so maybe it's a good thing

They will be discounting what ever stock is out there I would say. Too many issues to say, hey Whafe you are 6 3' you can pay full price, would tell them where to get off politely.

Clearing inventory to make way for the new 07 kit surely......................

FLyer, youa re a true gentleman for bringing this forward to some very dedicated Titus customers................ Great stuff......

Yeah, Thanks Flyer, would not have put buyabikeaholic syndrome in me if I didn't see your post. Dang it was hard not to put the order in for the EXO motolite, modena,XXXXXXXXXXX bike in. Thank God I fit small framed Titus's though as the spirit of purchasing did overcome me and I caved in and ordered and ELEVEN. Should be here soon and will post pics when done.

All I was doing was minding my own business about to order a poor mans frame from Chad for my wife and boom a post of Titus firesale(LOL). Then after regaining some composure and not buying a Motolite EXO, Modena, Eleven, and my wifes frame all in one go. I chose the humble approach and chose the Eleven as my only purchase. Now I gotta let go of my beloved HCR. Opted out of the Roadie as reality set in and realized I would only use it a few times a year. Motolite got vetoed as already got the Racer-X and if I'm gonna go All-Mountain then El Guepo is waiting in the wings.

Dangnamit, decisions are hard when you only got 12 hours to decide before all the frames are gone. Cause Flyer you sure did cause a frenzy at the Titus order desk(LMAO). Thanks as it satisfied my purchasing urges.

Whafe, what they were selling them for I just about caved in. But since I just finished a renovation of my business and the final numbers came in quite overbudget, I figured I gotta scale the spending back. Plus I still gotta give the missus a bike to.

Now if I could find that elusive Large......otherwise I may have to break down and buy a small for the GF but the credit cards are crying already.

I'm just glad that those who wanted a Titus got a Titus and it just creates more Titus loyalists, right? I love win-win situations. Now where is that Large frame hiding.....gotta go see if one may just be lying around.

    Don't forget pics.

I won't be able to get mine built up for a couple weeks. Taking some Vacation down in mexico! I'll be itching to set it up the whole time. Maybe we can post up who's ordered a ML in the past couple days. Seems to be a hot item as that's all anyones talking about.

I got one. Grey medium with the RP23.

Thanks for the heads up mcgrath! I put in an order for one of the mediums a half hour ago. Hopefully I hit it in time - the "Closeouts subject to prior sale" disclaimer and the fact that the "2 In Stock" ticker didn't change even after I submitted my order makes me nervous! I feel like I've entered the lottery...

I'm going semi-blingy with bright red Chris King hubs and headset. With this deal and the one I got on a Pike 454 Air U-Turn last night, I only have to sell the rights to my first born child to afford them.

I am worried about my order too.

I placed an order about 2 hours ago for a medium ML, but saw that the inventory didn't change. We'll see what happens. Good luck!!!!!!

    Faustus,

Hope things work out for you-----and me too. I have wanted one of these and thought like you (this was a sign from upstairs). Of course, I think if I would have found a Yeti for the right price, that would have been a sign also. Let me know if you get your frame.

Oh well, doesn't look good for me then if you and mcgrath both got one ahead of me.

mcgrath - I got the Pike from Performance Bike. $487 plus I got Team Performance store credit points. It was marked down to $609 and they had a 20% off coupon that expired yesterday.

I was taking this deal as the final sign from God that the Moto Lite was the bike for me. Now I have to wonder why God is taunting me...

    Up, Down, Up...

Nothing like an emotional roller coaster! Put in my order last night and was elated. Quickly realized that I probably didn't make the cut, and was depressed but still slightly hopeful. Got an email from Speedgoat this morning saying I was fourth in line for two bikes, but that they may get in some more Mediums in Blue. Didn't really expect that to happen, so I was crushed. Began looking for other options, but half an hour ago Speedgoat sent me another email saying that they were getting some Mediums in Blue with polished lowers, and I made the cut for one of them. I'd be elated again but I think my adrenal glands are tapped out!

The only downside is that I really wanted Gray. For that price though, I'll take Blue!

2007 will be a defining year for Titus, I think. With new blood at the helm, I hope they are in sync with their customers and the market. Is it going to be growth at any cost or is it going to be a measured approach to gaining marketshare while retaining your original customer base and coming up with even more innovative and solid designs and bikes?

You know the other companies are going to try and grab some marketshare away from Titus. I almost wish I worked for Titus at this stage in the game.

Medium MLs are all I'm seeing- and one Small. I located a couple of Mediums that are on en route but no Large yet and I could not get through to Speedgoat either. That's okay since I kind of want to add a nice 29er next for a better balance to my small collection. Looks like Speedgoat has a small left (per the site). That's all Speedgoat has. Hopefully, everyone who wants a Medium has one already. If not, you better get on it.

I am really looking forward to seeing a swarm of pics very soon.

Hmm, this thread is getting all jacked up - posts appearing in the wrong order. Anyway, one of the misplaced posts is the one I put in about getting the deal. The only downside is that I'm getting a Blue instead of Gray one. Anyone get a Gray and really want a Blue with Polished lowers - they could probably switch us!

Yeah, it's hard to read the latest posts now. What the heck is going on?
I wish I could use a Medium but no dice- not with arms spanning around 6'4". So two more Mediums (at Redbarn) and one more Small (Speedgoat). After that, we wait for the 2007s unless Biker Bob has a few he is hoarding. Nobody else I've called has any or admits to having any. Fullcycles has none either. I was hoping Will would carry some since they stock a ton of Yetis.

You guys hear of any more, post here please- preferably with sizes.

Anyway, now I need to head over to the 29er forum and ask about Steel HT frames (my consolation) but those guys are not all 100% right in the head I may just lurk around for a while first

Flyer - When did you get the Red Barn numbers? I talked with Chad around noon EST and they didn't have any Mediums left. Revolution in Utah (mentioned above) did have some Gray Mediums. Didn't ask them about large, but I assume that you've talked to them and they didn't have any.

It's crazy that in a country this big we're all scrounging around to find a few frames! Then again, my local shop is getting 4 of the Limited Edition RacerX bikes - aren't there only supposed to be 100 of those? Guess there aren't that many Titus dealers out there.

    Closeouts?

Just waiting for the dust to settle. I'm not sure this blowout is a good thing for Titus. I'm all for people saving a few bucks and getting good deals, but ebay prices on a popular frame-not necessary in my opinion. And these wholesale prices can't be encouraging for all those who paid the going rate over the years, and waited months for their Racer X or Motolite to arrive.
So once all the bargain hunting is finished, I look forward to dealing with people who want to build something very cool to ride for years to come. I'll still hook you up with a fair price on the medium greys and large frames I have in stock.
Meanwhile, now it looks like a shortage again.

Well, I spoke to him around 5:00 PM today. He got a couple more in and I was excited there for a while till he said NO LARGES. So I hung up on him and told him to call me when he was the bearer of good news.

Well, not exactly. I'm getting some tools and grips and so I did ask about the large, as I always ask everyone, including the postman. No luck but he did mention he just located some mediums that were on their way in so I know he had two coming in.

If you're looking for one, you better call him pronto or better yet, email him now and then call him and leave him a voicemail so you "reserve" your one. Please tell him he needs to get a large one in for Flyer at a suitable price. Not everyone has normal-sized arms", ya know!

P.S I can't guarantee any prices so don't let me get yer hope up too much except for the fact that a few are still around. Nobody will lose money on them but Speedgoat was letting them go pretty cheap though I don't think Chad is matching their price; nor will Bob, I'm sure. They have both always had very fair prices on ML though, from what you guys have told me. The 2006 Yetis will also need to make room for the 2007s though this may not be the right place for that. The LBS ordered so many now that I bet they will try to move them to get the new 2007s in. I'm already hearing 20% off on frames and bikes at the LBS.

Heck, Bob has some too. I think Bob and Chad regularly have the best prices around. So we still have a few left in good hands then.

sent Competitive Cyclist an email about the the speedgoat sale and they said they would match the price of the small but not the med or large. They said the would however sell me a new med or large for $1195. Still a good deal.

Yup, that's still a good deal on the ML. Comp Cyclist is great. Those guys know a lot about different bikes and if you ever go to the Womble Trail in Arkansas (an Epic ride for sure), definitely go see those guys. They know and ride all sorts of different bikes.

Slightly unrelated, but I just realized that Titus makes a RacerX 29er. I had no idea.

I gotta say, don't quibble about a few bucks in savings over Bob or Chad for the clearout motolite. I for one will say that Chad will give you a great deal on the additional parts that one could use on building up the sled. Wheelbuilds and prices are topnotch and I'm a tightwad with my wallet yet Chad is my goto source even if it's on blowout at mailorder X store. Bob and Chad can rattle off the exact Titus parameters or anyother Bike they carry. They also will cater to your needs and riding abilities and advise you where you should spend money and where to save money. So what I'm saying is, go with whoever has stock, but also go with whose gonna give you proper service and advice as well as a fair deal.

Superbly put, TiEndo. I could not have said it better so I'll just add this:

The advice and expert tips you will get will be well worth the few extra bucks you may spend. Keeping these guys in business is our business, in a way. I've talked to Chad and his info and tips are very in-depth and very appreciated. Larry is great as well and I also like Will/Gary at Fullcycles. I have not dealt with Bob yet but I can already tell that he is the same way. These guys are not in it to become rich either. I'm the first one to stand in line for a smokin' deal but I always go back to the one or two guys I like and give them 90% of my business in return for the times they simply talk to me even though they are busy at the shop or in the middle of building wheels.
Getting a deal is nice once in a while for sure. However, if you want a ML and pay $50 more to a guy who essentially gives you tens times that in advice, customer service, and help over the years, it's well worth it. I can't tell you how many times these guys have helped me out without ever acting impatient. They have improved my riding; not just the quality of my bikes.

If i could buy a motolite at my lbs I would. No luck in St. Louis so if I have to buy online. I'll look for the best deal on the frame then buy what I need from my lbs. They need all the help I can give them. I'ts a tough way to make a living in missouri. If they stocked $4000 bikes here it would just collect dust for a year then they would sell it for a loss. Thats why it's so hard for me to get a bike that I like. No test rides in Missouri.

    Amen Flyer

I was in Oregon this summer and stopped by Full Cycles on my way to the Coast and noticed that Full Cycles is a Titus dealer now. Unfortunately they are a non-stocking one and sorta got most of thier dinero(from my look in the store) tied into Yeti.

No problems as Yeti makes great bikes in my view as well. And if you want to see the future or Titus, I hate to say it, but look no further then Yeti Bicycles today. After being a niche brand and major business failures later they finally are a success. I hate to say it but Titus seems to be following the same business model they have taken. Is it bad..... not really, keep your mainstream bread and butter frames at fair prices (ala 575/motolite) and maintain your niche bikes (exo/custom) inhouse. Split the cost difference and feed 2 markets and hopefully keep your business profitable(or else your out a business and sorry but all makers of over 200 frames are in it as a business-- including Dave Turner for all you homers)

    2007?

Sorry if this has been hashed out already but does the closeout train mean that there are big changes coming for the 07 ML?

thats the question I have been afraid to ask.... maybe ano finish???

but the 2005s went cheap mid 2006.. my buddy almost bought one for $975, but it wasn't going to fit him so he got a tasty little blur.

but this is a bit early. or maybe the 2007 will actually be available in 2006. wouldn't that be weird.

Have to say it fella's, its times like this where Titus should come onto the forum and let us knwo what is going down. I know most of it is business strategy etc. But dare I say it, there is some infom that can come forward. This is one of the many reasons the Homer like DT, and rightly so, he spends time on here getting to know is customer base in a more in depth way. Like it or not, this site is a wealth of market information and tapping into their customer base...

For me, my dealings with Titus have been top notch, way better than Santa Cruz and Intense. But they could move to a whole new level with ease. Get on here and talk to your staunch customers and make them feel worthwhile, almost for free. That is sound marketing in my book................... Bla bla bla, shut up Whafe...............All right rambling.... my 1 penny worth.............................

There really isn't much for them to say anyway, especially not with Interbike so close and all the 2006 bikes almost gone. Most often, it's better to let things go and just come out with some stunning new bikes. Getting great deals before the next model year is common. For example, if I wanted a ML six months ago, I may have paid $1,300. If I waited for six months and paid $1,100 now, so what. I save a couple of hundred but I took a chance and waited till closer to the end of the season. Not a thing to stress over, not for me anyway. It is nice to save a couple of hundred but it isn't rare in this industry. In fact, it happens quite often.

So I can enjoy a new 2007 ML for $1,400 in a few months or wait a year and maybe pay $1,150. I don't care. That's how it goes.

Well put Flyer. I think the close out more sways the customers making upgrades of there rigs. Am thinking those that are purchasing a Bot brand bike are not going to make a purchase because of 2 hundy bucks. Could be wrong though. Roll on 07, exciting times....

I agree with ya fellas. It's not the huge savings in my eyes as well. I think what did it for me was that I was on the fence with a few other bikes at the 14-1600 dollar price range and the ML at 1300 or so. Then this price drop rolled in and I felt my decision was that much easier. For a bike I was already considering at 1300, to drop like this for whatever reason.... I was sold.

Now if needed, I could get the new 454 with out any qualms. But that's after I try the AM1 on 'er.

I thought the ML was closer to $1400, like 1395 anyway your gonna truly fall in love with this bike. From following your posts, you'r gonna have my dream combo, with the FXR, and Moto.

You also might find the Moto-Lite even more capable than you think...

Bob, Do you currently have Grey Medium sz Motolite frames in stock for immediate shipment? If not how long is the wait generally speaking. Mike

nokin---Tell you what- if you're looking for a bike- ANY bike- you can ALWAYS get a couple of hundred off at that price range- ALWAYS. If you can't, let me know and I will personally find you someone who gives you a fair price not only on the bike but also on components, gear, whatever. I know enough solid people in the business- you already know who someof us deal with. You think I have ever paid MSRP for anything- nope! I've spent around $12K-$13K on mtn bikes/components since 2005. People are very happy to give me breaks since I buy more. Without deals, I would have prob only spent $5k and stuck with one bike. With deals, I'm constantly buying stuff. It's my weakness.

Now for the killer question- do you think a smart-thinking dealer wants my $5K on one bike at MSRP or my $12K-$13K at 20% off MSRP on three bikes plus other stuff? PLUS, an addicted buyer at that point. It's like giving away free drugs- it costs you a little but then you have a paying buyer for life

So again, if someone (anyone, I don't care how established the vendor is) isn't willing to deal a bit, take your money to someone who will. I don't work a stressful and mostly thankless job to throw my money away either. $50 difference on a $1,500 frame isn't too bad and I will give that up stay loyal myself (however, everyone will give you that break anyway) but to save $300, sorry- I'm not that silly. I'm taking the $300 and going on a biking trip to the Womble or to The Colorado Trail. It'll pay for my gas and food.

I'm a big fan of Fruita/Grand Junction. It's on my radar, for sure. Especially if I can deliver a bike to someone to help defray my costs. 29'er anyone?

Oh man, I can always put Titus decals on what I have and show up. Hmm..I have to check the dates. I have some vacation and was planning a trip to Colorado but was thinking of going to the Colorado Trail. Let's see what I can figure out. If I just happen to be there when you all show up, it would be nice to ask me to come along

I'm trying to get back to Colorado this year too. If I do, I'll meet for all the Meets. All I have to do is get a couple more bikes or just some more decals.

Trying to move my reply to the bottom of the thread. I'll try but I have to check the work Release schedule (life and death, according to the dept.- they think this telco business is saving people or something) and see what my buddy says too. I was supposed to go up to CO in late Sept or mid-October and I've already taken both time-slots off. Nov is a tough one due to work stuff but I'll check tomorrow and see if there is a weekend that works.

How far is Fruita from Denver? Well, I'll just go to that thread and ask questions.

Just got back from the Titus Demo Day and asked Matt if there's any changes for 07 ML's...he said they're considering CF seat or chainstays, I can't remember which, or maybe it was both.

Feh. Carbon, schmarbon. My short list for ML changes in '07:
    1) Shift the FD cable stop down the seatpost by .5" so you can run the housing through the link rather than over it.
    2) Offer an anodized option if it will increase the cost of the frame appreciably; if not, make it standard.
    3) Delete the bottle cage bosses on the underside of the downtube, and include bolts for the bosses on the topside.
    4) Eliminate the routed groove in the V-shaped shock mount on the top tube: too fussy.
    5) Instead of a 5" and a 4" shock mounting option, make it 5" and 5.5", that is, assuming that there's enough tire clearance with the seat tube at full travel. I think there is...
    6) Include a free Gravity-Dropper-type ExoGrid seatpost with every frame! (OK, now I'm getting greedy...)
    Otherwise, it's perfect!!!!
