Got to get my wife off the 08 stumpy!

My wifes been rocking her stumpy for almost four years now. It's getting long in the tooth and needing a replacement. She dearly loves the bike but, since our shop no longer carries spec. I'd have to go 100+ miles to get it warrantied or be without a rear shock if the brain finally dies.

I had an ftm that she tried but it was a size to small for her. I'm thinking more along the lines of a racer x but not to sure about the geometry between them and the stumpy.

She had a yeti asr-5 for a few moths but it was too twitchy. She tried a niner rip-9 for a few months and has decided 29'rs ar not for her (or me).

Most of the current parts she has are newer (other than the fork wich came off of my ftm when it was sold) and will be swapped over.

I figured since both bikes are horst link bikes it comes down to head angle, top tube length and chain stay length to determine if the frame is comparable to what she now has. it wouldn't hurt to slow the steering down a bit with a more slack head angle but I'd hate to steep'n it any for fear of the bike not being as stable as her stumpy with a 140mm travel fork.

An ML or FTM would be a good replacement for a stumpy, they are both all day bike and don't steer as fast as a RX or X.

After running the numbers I think an FTM is really close to being as close as I can get to a stumpy. Now to get ahold of Ben....

You can also get a good deal on an FTm from on-one.

    The wife-unit requires a large

Ben has a few large's kicking around so we may pick one up. Not sure yet but it looks like the best option so far.

You could use a Cane Creek Angleset to slow down the steering a bit too. I may pick up an FTM and slacken it out for my "wife-unit".

Sounds like weak arguments for getting her off a bike she loves. 4 years is nothing; it'll be as good as anything now for her. Just replace the worn out parts. If you need another shock (doubtful), just have it rebuilt when you need it.

Might as well go rp23 and toss the brain if she likes the bike. Every time I try to upgrade anything of my wifes' she complains that she liked the other better. Sheesh whats a guy to do. About ready to upgrade her but she'll prolly complain about that too.

Waiting for her to make up her mind. She better act quick too. Since titus wont be selling bikes through dealers I wont be able to swing a full price 2012 frame through the shop (part-time bike shop employee)

Are you restricting yourself to just Titus?????

Plenty stiff, not overly complex, fully USA built. Think its their last one....and pretty sure Sherwood would stand behind it.

Are you suggesting his wife ride an XL frame?

Oops......Saw that he needed a Large FTM, and correlated that with a 21 inch seatube. Forgot to look at Toptube and standover when I ran into the sale.

Had good luck with horst-link bikes so wanted to stay with them. Also, I buy through my shop. We are a cannondale, schwinn,gt dealer right now. We can get the occasional odd-ball (turner/titus) but nothing on the radar right now is really catching my eye.
