    Ftm carbon rear tire.

Easy way to shorten the trail on ftm carbon. Get some nylon washers from hardware store OD7/8 ID3/8 TH1/16. Cut one side of the washers. You don't have to remove the shock just clean the outside. Remove the air and unscrew the air chamber. Thats it. Now you can use a larger tire or a different shock without paying $100. I used 4 washers for bontrager xr 4 2.3. Make sure with the air out you bottom the suspension and check that the tire doesn't hit the frame. You can add or subtract washers. I have used it for a month and no problems to the washers.

Neat. So this essentially will shorten the travel of the shock as well? Is it worth the payoff?

Yes it shortens the travel. The carbon has a spacer in the shock but its still limited in tire size or like I had a motolite shock and reduced it without paying someone to do it. To install a spacer normally you have to total disassemble shock.
