    Women mtb clubs in austin?

    Howdy,

My sister came home (Honduras) for her college summer break. I took her out on some light mtbing and she immediately got hooked. By the end of her break, she was handling some pretty tough climbs and even, to their amazement and embarrasment, beating some of my friends. Last week she went back to Austin to start her fall semester at UT. She wants to keep riding and wants to join a local group. Do any of you guys or gals know of a nice group of friendly texan woman (or coed) mtbers in Austin that are willing to welcome a beginner with a great atittude and a will to learn. She has work to do on the technical side but is pretty quick to learn. Thank you for your help.

    Cheers,
    Abel

Austin Flyers, Bicycle Sports shop, Flying Pigs, are the ones that come to me off the top of my head but they're are a ton of women/co-ed mtb clubs around those parts.

She should have an easy time finding one.

I recently joined the meetup group for the Austin Mountain Bikers. I haven't been on any rides with them, but I often get emails for ladies only rides that are going out.

Austin Ridge Riders is a great group, and they do quite a bit of women-specific stuff.

Ride Like a Girl is probably your best option to get started. My wife tends to be there when she can and really enjoys it. They alternate between Walnut Creek and other trails each Monday (usually Barton Creek).
