    There's plenty around Austin.
    Ema Long Park
    Walnut Creek
    Barton Creek Green Belt
just to name a few. When I lived near there I liked Walnut Creek the best with Barton Creek second. Ema Long (at the time anyway, not sure about now) allowed dirt bikes on the trail too so it got kinda ugly sometimes.

    Quite helpful!

I'll be staying somewhere downtown, hopefully I'll get my hotel booked tomorrow. If anyone knows any that are definitely bike friendly that'd be great!

i've heard city park motocross is pretty intense. You can never go wrong with the green belt, but it is a hiking area as well, so you're expected to share the trail as it's not bikes only.

I see one on my way to cedar park up north (about 25 min from downtown), i believe it's called the brushy lake park, and it looks nice.

You can ride from your Hotel door and hit the greenbelt in 10 minutes.

BCGB is the trail to ride to get the best of Austin, you'll need a guide though to have a good loop.

I work just south of downtown. At 5:10 I could be at the Hyatt. Can show you around. Just call (voice) the number I gave.

Sweet. I'm still driving so I probably won't make a ride until closer to dark today.

Sounds good. What is your schedule each day? I can arrange to get out of work earlier if need be, but 5 pm is my normal end of day. Give me a call earlier in the day so I can make necessary arrangements to leave early if needed.

Also, if you have lights and want to ride past dark, let me know and I will charge/bring mine,

btw, I don't get on forums during the workday, so if you need to contact me, the only way is my mobile (voice NOT text) 5one2four5oh1one3nine.

I will probably ride my ss to work tomorrow as my fixed gear has slicks on it for street commuting. I am charging my light just in case the ride run out of daylight.

    Pub Crawl

Also, some friends do a regular Wednesday Pub Crawl and will be meeting at Opal Devine's on 6th Street at 7 pm. We could probably meet them after riding trails at any time along the pub crawl. I can call them when we are done to see where they are.

Might be obvious, but just to be clear, it's a bicycle pub crawl. Usually every other Wednesday, called the Wednesday Assault Ride (WAR)

Todays riding was off the charts. Good 18 miles on the greenbelt and then another 10 chasing pavement for food and refreshments.

Chardog took a spill off a narrow crossing and fell about 15' down into the dry river bed! A little banged up but we managed to pound out the extra miles and get that elusive beer!

He rolled right off the side of this, in slow motion.

The hill Billy's that show up there for the free concerts ruin it for me. Nice place though! I work right down the road from it.

Eventful ride tonight. We rode the main trail and on the way back took the trail that goes by the chain. When I got to the armored dip just upstream from the chain, I fell over and then ungraciously slid off the edge of the ledge falling 10-15 feet on to a rock in the dry creek bed landing on my head and shoulder. The helmet is toast, cracked and dislocated in several places. I was able to ride out and even hit two stops on the pub crawl, but have a knot on my shoulder, bloody knees and a scrape on the brow. Lucky it was not worse. Thanks Joseph for tending to me after the crash (It looked really bad) he tool a picture afterward of the location. Go ahead and post the pic if you can.

    Thanks

Amazingly well for having fallen off a 10'+ foot cliff onto a rock. A few aches and stiffness.

The main things that are bothering me are the poison ivy I got into on the way down and allergies to whatever is in the air.

Did you get out an ride around Austin any more?

I didn't. Work started blowing up Thursday afternoon and I had to drive back ASAP.

We need to put together an Austin MTBR GTG.
