Anyone here ride the NW Houston area?

Specifically the trails near the HP campus west of SH249? Faulkey Gully kind of area?

There's a paved path that goes from Lakewood grove subdivision all the way down to Cypresswood I believe, and the southern half seems to have little singletrack trails left and right of paved path, clearly groomed occasionally.

anyway, it's kind of fun. wondering if anyone on here rides those too sometimes...

P.S.: I've been watching all the redbull kids (Brandon Semenuk, et al.) ride downhill trails on youtube, and now I am sad at how slow and pathetic I seem to ride in comparison...

Yes, those trails are part of Cypress Creek MTB trails former known as cypresswood improper. There's about 10 miles of trails from Grant Road to YMCA on 249 and some go further all the way to the Cypresswood trails with a little road riding. Check out the facebook pages.

    Aha! thank you.

"Improper" probably describes my riding them too... I'll keep practicing.

That trail is still unofficial, so quit trying to come up with an official name for it. It's still Improper.

I'm about a mile from the southern end of the trail (Grant @ Lakewood Forest) & ride some combination of the trail weekly. If you're looking for a (slow) guided tour, pm me & I'll drag you around the trails.
    Start slow, then taper off.

That sounds like something I might be interested in! Just need to start working out again and get my cardio and stamina up a bit.

Cool, I may take you up on it too. been exploring on my own and find new stuff all the time. I am also not fast (well, for maybe 100 yards I can be fast).

I see plenty of riders park at that playground/park on Cypresswood, the one with the little skatepark area. sometimes my 10yo and I stop there, the little pavillion I mean, to eat a powerbar or someting, sit around for a bit.
