After 3 months of cedar pollen I finally get to ride again !

I can't ride in the winter because of my extreme allergic reaction to cedar pollen, but now that's over.

I went out for a brief morning ride around my neighborhood this morning, Lordy my legs are like marshmallows !

Wish me luck I'm gonna need it to get back in shape

That's gotta be a horrible way to live. There has to be a remedy right?

    Hi Trevor,

Well, the only thing I can't do is ride, everything else is ok.

I take a product called NasalCrom to control my symptoms and it works quite well. However I know better than to overwhelm my system by force injecting the pollen into my lungs via a long huffy puffy ride, so I wait it out.

    Hi Tangyman,

You know for some strange reason I never have, I've heard different stories as to how effective that is. Sounds like it worked great for you, that's excellent !

I have extremely bad cedar allergies here in austin as well. To top it off, I live about 5 minutes away from the greenbelt. Some of my friends recommended me to have local austin honey regularly -- I eat it with my tea (please don't bash people that drink tea), cereal, and even smoothies. It tastes amazing and this year, I was allergy-free for 3/4 months right after my friends told me about this remedy.

It doesn't hurt to try you just eat honey, and if it doesn't work, you eat honey.

Shots have worked amazingly well. I take a shot in each arm every 3 weeks and no more year round sore throat and other god awful symptoms.

Hmm, maybe I need to look into shots. I get lazy about it because winter time is the only time I have a problem and so I kinda forget about it during the rest of the year.

Glad I posted this I appreciate everyone's feedback.

Well, I went to Leon Creek and put in 14 miles today and I felt great !

I was in better shape than I thought, I must have forgotten to warm up a couple days ago when I zipped around the neighborhood.

God, I love MTB !!! It felt so nice to be back on the bike

Just FYI, at the urging from my wife I went to an allergist 20 + years ago and did the weekly injections for a year or so, then stopped. Now I rarely have any allergy related issues. Maybe a week or two tops on an odd year when the mountain cedar is high.
