    Saint Brake on ECDM?

I'll be putting a (2009) Fox 40 on my ecdm in the near future. It seems that the older Hope Mono M4 won't be comparable with the Fox fork. I'm not sure I understand why -- difference between 51mm IS tabs and DH is tabs, or something. Anyway that Hope brake has been impossible for ME to set up without squealing, so I'm looking at a new brake.

Has anyone got experience with the newer Saint brakes? I'm extremely happy with the XTR Trail brakes on my Tallboy LTc, and could see going with the Saint brakes on the tandem.

    Any thoughts?

PS: anyone want to buy a used Hope Mono M4 front brake? Only used on Sundays, never squeals.....

The Fox 40 should accept the Hope brake. If I remember correctly, you need to use a Fox 40 adapter which may be the same as a standard 160mm disc system mount as opposed to the 203mm mount.

The forks massive lower leg, forces you to run a smaller adapter with the larger brake...I think.

As for the brake squealing, you might try some Brakleen from the auto parts store. Remove the pads and spray them clean, using a clean rag, spray some Brakleen into the rag and wipe down the discs really well.

If you do go Shimano, it should work well, there was a not to long ago topic here about them on a Tandems.

My '11 Marz 66 doesn't take an adapter. My Hope Mono6 caliper bolts right to the fork leg and fits the 203 rotors.

Teamburney here has Saints. Had posted they loved 'em.

With the Fox 40, I believe the mount (not post mount) is no adapter runs a 180 disc, the 160 adapter runs a 203 disc and a 180 adapter is a 225(?) disc.

    Similar to what you mentioned.

    Saint Brake on ECDM?

Same as Okayfine, no adapter on my caliper. So if on the Fox fork I would need a 220mm disk, I guess (+20).

I hate to wait for the fork to come back from overhaul just to have to wait on a brake... Hmmm. I'll call Hope and see how much is a new caliper and adapter...
