Rental car - what will a tandem fit in..............

We are coming out to the US to celebrate our 20th anniversary in September and will have access to an MTB tandem and intend on making the most of Northern California and parts of Oregons finest trails. We have access to a tandem via Alex but I need to know what a tandem will fit in as at home we have a VW cargo van which makes life easy, its only the two of us so could just rent a van but what else will it fit in, mini-van, std SUV or a fullsize SUV? Recommend me a size.........

Most of the newer Mini-Vans should be able to swallow a tandem whole with ease. Mini-vans really aren't that "mini" and make fantastic people/stuff haulers.

If you don't mind some disassembly, (wheels) most Full size SUV's can handle Tandems, even some larger Mid-size ones. For shear convenience and if you don't care what you are driving, I'd go with the Mini-Van.
