    Surly Hub Help

    Hey Guys,

I have a Surly 135mm bolt up single speed hub which I am using as a front hub in a Salsa Mukluk.... The cones on this thing just will NOT stay tight. I would like to use this bike for some multi day stuff, but I just don't have confidence in it staying solid, and don't wanna drag cone spanners about....

    Any ideas for solutions???

    Thanks,

    Adam

    Try tightening the locknuts.

    You're joking? That'll work???

Had them nice tight, but always seems to loosen up that little bit.....

I am at a constant struggle with both my surly 135 disc up front and my XT rear hub on my pugsley. It's getting damn ridiculous how often I have to service these.

Up front I shimmed the cone with a washer to help keep it tighter. I think it works a bit. But yeah, you're not alone. I'm thinking some hope or king hubs will help my cause but ouch...$$$$!
