I think it may be time to get the Troll powder coated a different orange, the Pugs looks awesome, I'm getting tired and bored of the plain safety orange. I was thinking orange with gold metal flake under clear.

The Instigator gives me the most smiles per pedal stroke of any Surly bike I have ridden.

They come on 45 North's pedals. They sell kits of the pins for ~20 bucks. It's lucky they matched so good...well lucky for the wife cause now I have 500gram beater platforms again on the Moonlander.

so I got my disc trucker frameset in and built up... built it up for a street bike, hope to get some real touring on it down the road.

real simple build up based mostly on what had been on my MTB
Frame – 62cm surly disc trucker
    Fork – Surly disc trucker
    Saddle – Brooks b17 standard
    Seatpost – Easton E30
    Bars – Titec “Jones” H-bar
    Grips – Ergon GP1
    Stem – no name
Headset – Cane Creek 10 Series
    Crankset – Shimano SLX FC-M660 175 22-32-44t
Front Deralleur – Shimano Deore FD-M591
Rear Deralleur - Shimano Deore RD- M592 (shadow)
    Cassette – Sram PG970 11-34t
    Chain – KMC x9.93
Shifters/Brake leavers – Shimano Deore ST-M535 Dual control
Brake calipers – Shimano Deore BR-M535
Brake rotors – Avid G3CS 160mm “clean sweep”
Wheelset – stock from ’11 Trek sawyer
    Rims – Bontrager Duster
    Hubs – Shimano HB-M475
    Tires – Panaracer Pasela 700x32
    Pedals – Shimano PD-M505

I have a set of XT dual controls that I tried with the H bar but found the shape of them wasn’t idea compared to the deore as I like to wrap my hands over the pod section… also the black is more fitting to the build lol. I also have the matching XT calipers, they use the same pads at the deore but are a good bit lighter the negative is they use the banjo hose fitting and my current hose is to short and I don’t want to spend $30 on a hose right now… I also figure the standard straight hose will be a bit easier to find.

Lookin' Good! Now I'm thinking about pulling the dual controls of my Fetish and putting them on the DT.

Shot from today....couldn't find any Ewoks.

My road/cross bikes mostly collect dust in the last 1.5 yrs. This Surly has now become a part of me. Maybe I need to swap my cross bike parts over to a CC or LHT...hhhmmmmm

On another note, I need to ride the trails on the other side of that cage. The area is a cleaned up toxic waste dump site. It is almost has an erie Chernobyl feel to it. Of course I will wear my Surly gas mask.

Yeah, I'm up in the far north, just a few miles from John O' Groats. The Pugs pics were from near Aviemore and Dunnett beach. The 1X1 pic further up was from Torrindon.
    Great country for riding

My LHT parked at the entrance to the Mayne Island farmer's market. Mayne is a small island off the coast of BC with a modest population at best but their farmer's market was awesome!

Being a small island, I left my bike here (did lock the rear wheel, which was above and beyond what anyone else was doing) for 3 hours unattended - which, coming from Vancouver which is the bike-theft capitol of Canada, felt pretty scary - but of course it all worked out in the end.

The dual controls work great on these bars... I prefer the deore over the xt or lx for the shape... but for function the xt I had on the bars before worked just as well...

Lots of hand positions... can shift and brake even when on the back of the "hoods" aka hooks as long as you put your hands over the pod
