Wow, you don't live in Ky do you? What you described sounds exactly like our weather from December to May.

    18" 2012 Surly Karate Monkey
    Rider Height 5'11 3/4"
    32"inseam

Drop bars give me just a hair to much length. I need a 20mm shorter stem and I would be good to go.

I actually have the standover to ride a 20" frame but it would be to long for happy mountain biking and drop bars would be out of the question.

Been lurking here awhile. Just got my surly troll project back from the bike shop. I had it chromed by a local company that mainly does hot rod/ harley parts. I think it came out really nice.

What's the bar setup? That's the tallest configuration I've seen other than my Ogre, and I've been fighting to get the bars down!

It's a On-One Midge bar with only 1 1/2" of steer tube cut. I have developed a shoulder issue in my advanced years and need my bars set up above the seat height. It also doesn't help that I have a short torso and long legs which makes fitting a bike difficult. This is my 3rd attempt at a touring bike build I can get comfortable on. My last two frames were too big (58cm) so I went with a 56cm Trucker. After 600 miles, three bars, and two stems I think I'm almost there. One more stem sized in between the last two will be in this week and I'm hoping that the fit will be spot on.....or I'll swap in MTB bars.
