its salsa handlebar tape for the rim strip, works pretty good on rabbit holes since its just a few mm wider than the cutouts...

i was going to go all green but then i snapped one of the green chainring bolts but had some red ones in the shop and that little bit of red really made it pop...plus the hope bottom bracket went on sale at jenson so it was half the cost of a green chris king...

Hey- what is all the gear on your stem, almost looks like a green can something?

Ahh, great minds think alike...I have a usb chargerable speaker that mounts on the handlebars to boost the sound of your phone...it looks funny but sounds excellent!

BTW- your bike is a sleeper, with the closeup shots I see all the high end parts!

i use my speaker to blast Rush...
i had a long term goal of doing the main decent trail in the timespan of "trees" and "la villa strangiatto" which is 14:17...i beat that but now the bottom of the top ten list is 13 minutes and change...getting harder to cut those seconds off...

    Pugs back together

Some pics of my 2010 Pugsley after its repaint and now back together. It was powdercoated silver and then cleared with a fine magenta metalflake.
It used to be white and I ride it all the time and thought if I am going to freshen it up, I will make it mine, in a colour I want.
Changed out the H bars for a NOS pair of Torsion bars I had aside and basically just swapped out the black stem, spacers and seatpost for polished.
Nothing flash or bling but its mine and rides great

Added some raceface riser bars and a $5 blackburn saddle on clearance from Jenson as I wasn't a huge fan of the saddle and bars that came stock. Took it out for a ride today and thought it felt pretty damn ok. If anything, at least it added a little color.

    Cheers mate.
Unfortunately there was a slight problem with the paint flaking where some a couple of bolts did up. It didn't chip but actually cracked and flaked. It looks like the silver hasn't adhered to the zinc primer properly. We couldn't tell whether it was just these one or two spots or not so the paint shop asked what I wanted to do. So I am going to ride it this season/year and see how the paint goes and when I want it repainted they will repaint it and any rims etc for free when I want it done again. They said I could go the same or change to any colour etc. Meanwhile they will try and find out from their supplier about why it might not have worked as it should.
I'm pretty happy with that outcome as I couldn't ask for anything else. I love this finish but didin't really want to strip it just now but now I know it will be fixed when needed and I can change the finish win/win

    Ramble on the Dummy.

Got out for a nice urban ramble today. I even managed a little singletrack. The BD is good for mixing it up. I've been commuting on it lately. I'm really hoping to get out on a bike camping trip on it later this year. Post pics of your Surly!!!-bigdummy.jpg

I was in here in the beginning posting bling on a singlespeed, so who am I to judge. Right?

    Johnny the man,

Bike looks great. I like the tan wall Nates. Looks like a modern classic bike from history with the black frame, silver headset, tan wall tires and brooks saddle.

The photo looks great also, capturing the bike against the brick wall.

not this time,i was going down rock and roll on this trip, only went as far as the second road on the first lap i made...
this trip was about going to places where i knew there was some big hits i have been through many times to kinda get a feel for the bluto and get it more dialed in pressure and rebound wise...its pretty stiff right now which i like since it made cornering predictable and stable...but yeah, pretty slick, made three arroyos and the exit move from the sidewalk pretty buttery...next time i will try and knock of the cathedral climb though...krampus is still faster...

I just saw, and even sat on, all of h-spams bikes. Now I have a high fever and fluid is leaking from various points on my body.

that ride somehow should have counted for more...it was certainly more than just the distance traveled or elevation change...there was also blood loss to consider!

    Pugsley!

My Pugs, my new favorite bike. Grabbed it last December, haven't stopped riding it since.

Today's commute was a mix of sleet, snow, black ice, that special slush that cakes the road with 1/2" of 'hell no,' skidding automobiles, car accidents, ambulances, confused drivers, meaningless stoplights, downed trees, and bad attitudes.

If I had to describe it through a haiku, this would be it:

    Waves of blinding snow,
Cars swarm around me like sharks,
    This is how I die.

I'm currently running a Dinglespeed setup, with 30/19 and 24/25. Love having a cog bigger than my chainring. Thanks to Shanna at Endless Bikes for the big toothed pie plate!

Here's a couple of bonus pics of the Pugs in action!
