    Ogre as rigid race bike?

Hello all! I know that there are threads for the Karate Monkey as a race bike, but I am curious to know if anyone has raced their Ogre? I am considering racing the Vermont 50 this weekend on my Ogre. I could bum a racier steed from a friend, but I am typically a "run what ya brung" guy. I have racier wheels, and am pretty fit, even for all the climbing that will have to be done. Any thoughts (pro or con) would be appreciated!

The differences between the two models are so minor that they would make absolutely no difference in performance to a rider who even considers racing either. Get it?

Thanks! That is what I thought. Sometimes being told that I am not overlooking the obvious makes the decision easier. I was wondering if any had actually taken the leap and raced the Ogre. It was great for my tour this summer, but rolling into the pain cave is a different animal.

I'll race mine I'm sure, as I raced its Karate Monkey predecessor, as well as many other comparable steel bikes. They all seem to hurt about the same by the second lap.

So, I never raced XC on mine but it was my CX steed for a season and it was heavy, but deliriously fun. But heavy. Of course. Just depends on what you hang on it. Here's a picture just because:

    Do it.
KM was a great race bike. Especially for the longer stuff. Felt better than aluminum and lighter than FS. And with the ogre (stock complete anyways) you get the benefits of gears. so yeah I vote yes.
