Krampus and Rohloff?
Will a Rohloff work on a Krampus?
Get the disc brake version with the external shift box. If you can get the threaded axle version. I find that bolt on IGHs work best with Surly horizontal dropouts. You can make the QR Rohloff work though.
I would use a Monkey Bone torque control adapter and an OEM2 axle plate to stop the IGH from spinning.
The photos are a Surly 1x1 with Rohloff and Monkey bone. It's a QR version, but I used a bolt on axle to hold it as securely as possible. Surly Tugnut on the right to avoid hub sliding when I am cranking.
Vikb, would Surly's newer dropouts work any differently with a Rohloff? They updated their dropouts a couple years ago and I noticed you have an older 1x1. I know the update made rear wheel removal easier, but having no experience with these hubs, will it change the installation process at all.

BTW - Cass over at the While Out Riding Blog is planning a Rohloff'd Krampus. You can check in with him once he gets it done to see how it worked.
Haven't had a chance to read the article yet, but here's a Krampus with a Rohloff.

Thanks guys! This looks to be a fun build in the near future!!
"Don't say Rohloff"
 (It was from Surly's Facebook page the other day in case you missed the joke)
