KM actual frame weight 18" size?

Trying to convince myself to pull the trigger but I would really like to know the actual weight for the 18" size. Surly's site says the 20" is 5.5lbs.

I am surprised no body has ever weighed their KMs before they built them up...

Probably because the type of folks who buy KM's (and Surlys in general) don't really care much about weight... That's me at least.

Understandable...I am thinking of switching from an Origin 8 scout and was hoping to drop some weight in the process. It is factoring into which frame I will be going with.

I think the 5.5 lbs. is pretty close to actual. It's been a long long time since my small KM was just a frame, but I seem to recall it weighing 5.25 lbs.

probably white. I doubt they'd go out of their way to make grey decals.

Has anyone built a black km up and used black surly stickers on it yet? Looking for that sleeper look. It seems that an 18 KM 2010 frame weighs 5.34lbs according to a post in this forum.

Does anyone have any experience with the KM with a Niner carbon fork?

I built mine up over the winter its a 18" and all said and done with heavy cro-mo on one mary bars it weights in at 25.3 lbs. Not to shabby in my opinion. Single speed and rim brakes!

It's doable. With a cheapo carbon fork, Stan's Crest rims, and Hayes Stroker Grams mine weighs 21.25 lbs.

Post a picture if you can...I'm still deciding on what size frame to pick up...im basing my build off of my current origin8 aluminum scout ss. The km has the closet geo to my scout which I love. I have come to love the 20.5 weight but want the ride of steel. I think my scout frame is heavier than the km too...

No experience with the Niner carbon fork, but I do have the Origin8 Black Ops carbon fork, and it's nice. Not only was it much lighter than the stock KM fork, of course, but it really does dampen the ride quite quite a bit.

Don't remember what the frame alone weighed (I bought it in 2006), but set up with the carbon fork and ss, it sits just over 23 pounds. 21 may be doable with carbon bars, race tires, and lighter brakes (I'm running older bb7s). But it's more than light enough for me at what it's at.
