    Instigator question...

    Hello Everyone,

I bought this Instigator a few years ago from a friend who really was cleaning out his garage of stuff he really didn't use anymore. Although it is in fine shape for tooling around it is too much of a hog. As a result of it's weight, I don't really ride it much. (I haven't actually weighed it though.) Also, it's a little too big for me.

    It's a '01 Surly Instigator size M.
It has a 1x9 drive train
    2001 Marzocchi Bomber fork
    XT der.
    XT cantilever rear brakes
    Deore Disc front brakes
    Truvativ cranks
Mavic D521 Rear wheel w/ Ringle hub
    Deore Fron hub
    holy roller tires.

I want to downgrade it from a urban hucking beast to a more of grocery getter, tooling around town and occasional light xc trail riding bike.

I would really like to take some excess tonnage off this bike with out spending a fortune? I have thought of just getting rid of it altogether and buying a more suitable hard tail. However, I would like to stay with steel.

So, I guess the real question is: Get rid of my Instigator outright or switch out components for a more lean beater bike.

    Thanks for your input.

o mygod just get rid of the bike. The Instigator is meant to ride hard, and the idea of a grocery getter makes me sad.
