Disc Fork for Surly Pacer?
I have a Surly Pacer, and I want to put a front disc brake on it. The Pacer fork's axle to crown length is 371mm. So far I've come up with three options:
Woundup: The Ultimate Road Fork: Carbon Fiber Road X From Wound Up
Fits the bill but super expensive
SJS Cycles: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/evolution...res-prod25964/
The axle to crown distance is a bit much at 380mm, it's almost a cyclocross fork, but price is more my style.
Surly: Forks | Parts and Accessories | Surly Bikes
Cheapest option. If I use the 26" Disc Trucker fork, the axle to crown is 376mm. Will this even work?
Which is my best option? Any other suggestions? It seems that there are very few options out there for 1 1/8" steerers. Thanks!
I looked at the specs of the last two forks and they are close enough I can't see an issue. 9mm increase in length is ~0.5 deg HTA difference.
Both have 5mm less rake than the Pacer fork. I don't think that's enough to worry about unless you are very very picky about your steering.
I would expect both forks to be a bunch stiffer than the stock Pacer fork so be ready for increased front end harshness.
I've got a friend running the 26" DT fork on the front of a Pacer with no issues. He's planning on having a disc tab added to the rear eventually.
