    Dirt Wizard 2.75 thread

I know it's a couple months away from being released but I thought why not a thread dedicated to the mighty DW, where people purchased them, pricing, weights, availability, rims used and real world experience on dirt when that day comes.

I talked to guys at Surly last month and was told availability hopefully in early to mid January(fingers crossed). I'm on a wait list at my LBS.

it's a big tire but nothing compared to the devist8ers on my pugsly that weigh 1800gm each...

Man I've heard so many different dates on these tires. I am looking forward to checking them out when they're finally released. May consider throwing them on my Krampus when the time comes to replace the Knard.

There's much anticipation for it from many folks of the krampus, ECR, orge folks wanting semi-fat with grip so at least we have a spot to chat, BS.

    I'm tired of waiting.

Seems like it's been 6+ months.

Hope that's for both the 26+ and 29+ versions!

I assume anything "released" at Interbike in September 2013 is a May 2014 product. I've got a Reba ready to go on the Krampus with some DWs, but I have essentially stopped thinking about that project. Whenever DWs start showing up I'll order some and get things rolling again.

    Probably...plus another 50-60 Kramp-onauts

If the DWs don't come out by May I'll just hit my Reba with a dremel tool and run a Knard in it!

Yeah you're right. I've thought about trying to cram something onto the bike, but then the perfectionist (weirdo) side of me comes out and tells me I should wait for something that's supposed to work without modding the heck out of it.

I am wondering how the fat suspension fork is coming along... that's another option if the DW take forever.

2 mins with a dremel isn't really modding the heck out of it.

It would probably take me longer to chill a beer and select some tunes to listen to than it will do the mod.

That will require an odd front hub and look goofy with a "skinny" 29+ tire so the perfectionist in you may not like it.

I would. The only reasons I haven't bothered so far are:

    1. I'm lazy
    2. I don't need the fork + Krampus until bikepacking season starts rolling at full steam = May

There have been quite a few folks who've done the mod and nobody has reported a problem.

If the DWs come out in a reasonable timeframe that is the path of least resistance and because I am lazy and wanted to try the DWs anyways that's how I'll roll.

Never thought about that - good call. Sounds like the DW is the best option. It's sad that I am worried about a 2.75" tire being too skinny!

Some folks are running unmodified Fox Float 34s with Knards. Just depends on your need for debris clearance.

I can fit a Knard on a Flow rim in the Reba without any dremel action with minimal clearance.

I heard about that - but I sorta want to try the DW! I think by the time my Knards are toast the DW will be out.

    *crosses fingers*
