ANOTHER Karate Monkey Complete from Jenson.

    Grey, 16"

This bike is going to be my car for about a year... so... I'm apprehensive.

Jenson says two weeks delivery, as they're out of stock... I hope its JUST two weeks and I'm not left waiting for ages.

So, smooth, skinnier Urban tires for cheap? any reccommendations?

Whats been the best way to add a few gears to these things?

first 29'er, first FULLY rigid bike. First singlespeed. second steel bike.

any guidance or what to expect... would be appreciated!

my expected arrival date is not later than the 29th. though my Local bike shop told me complete bikes in grey were gone for the year. they really didn't seem to want to help me... which was so odd. I went in there so many times and got advice without buying anything. then when it came time to buy. they were so rude and unprepared. and QBP wouldn't let them order anything...

It was a real WTF moment.

After having them talk me into a Vaya. then being told i cant get it.
then be talked into a KM and THEN be told I can't get it...

    what the?

    So... TO JENSON I WENT!!!

My not-later-than date is 28 September. Ordered Battleship Grey, 20" on 7 September, JensenUSA. Should be some new Karate Monkeys on MTBR by the end of the month.

You could get quick but not cheap gears with a dos eno freewheel.

    LOL! those are awesome!

I plan to do a 1x9. but I cant figure out what cage length I need, or exactly what cassette type.

I want something geared rather aggressively. my old mountain bike just never had the gearing to make me happy. I'd outrun my hardest gears.... have more juice to pedal with and just be left spinning crank. no ideas on what. I also know I need to get a bigger front chainring... but I'm too clueless to know the toothcount on these things!

Okay, I'm cancelling my Order. I keep running numbers on what its going to take to make this bike TOTALLY satisfy me. and I keep running over 1,600.

I just... the KM was a compromise to start. I'm just gonna save my money. buy a slightly better bike later. possibly build it.

could still be on the (2012) KM frame. but this is just way too much money to not be happy with it.

Agwan - What about the Ogre? It is a KM on steroids and Surly will be offering it as a complete. I bet the price won't be that far off of a Troll.

Oh its totally still on my Radar! both are! and the troll.

I'm just wanting a lot of very specific, and somewhat contradictory things... so I think that patience will reward me later.

If it was going to be my car I think I would get a Troll. I think it has a much better setup for getting around town especially with all the mounts it comes with. Plus you can run a 700x45c from what I am told if you want wagon wheels.

Personally I'd get a complete then swap the wheels to some Rhyno Lites with XT hubs use v brakes then put a tomi cog on for a backup just in case something happens.
