    Alternate wheelset 1x1

I am considering a new wheelset for my 1x1, and thought I might switch up the format a bit. Trying to decide between Marges and 650b. Ride mostly urban and also own a Cross Check for road/commuter.

Are either of these life-changing setups, or should leave well enough alone?

I have a set of 650b and a lefty on my 1x1. Best move ever.

I've wanted to try both marge lites and 650's on my 1x1, but ultimately think that in an urban area the marges would be the most fun. Obviously the 650's would be the best for commuting, but as far as fun factor goes, I'd get the marges and some hookworms.

They'd look something like this, just on a 1x1.
Mountain bikers who don't road ride have no legs...
Road riders who don't mountain bike have no soul...

^Yup. That's what I'd do. In fact I'd love to have a set for pugsley commuting to have a skinny option for the fatty.

if you are just roaming the city/commuting a 29er wheelset with 42c tires or so would be great... but I can see how fun hookworms and the marge combo would be for hooning around...

I built up a set of White Industries hubs / Blunt SL 650bs and it has been life changing. Though I mainly use my 1x1 for mountain biking I do ride to and from the trail. For mostly urban I would go to 700c.

I run 3" tires on 35 mm rims for my winter 1/2 fat bike. Works great.

Decided to go somewhere in between my original two options and ordered up some Blunt 35 650b to lace to some White Industries hubs I have laying around. Starting out with some Vee Rubber Speedsters since I'm about 90% urban and 10% trail.
